Amazing video! Thank you so much! Im trying out my first toe up socks using your videos as tutorials. So easy to understand and I can clearly see what and how you do it. Appriciate it! I Have only done cuff up before. but I don't really enjoy it, so I thought I would try toe up sick, using magic loop and see if that makes it more fun.

You certainly can! Just split the stitches evenly in quarters. Needles 1 and 2 will be the instep, needles 3 and 4 will be the sole/back of leg/heel.

Just finished my first toe up socks. Wonderful easy pattern. Thank you! QUESTION- do you block the socks and do you need a sock blocker?
@OrchardHouseEditing
@OrchardHouseEditing Жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your first socks! I'm glad you enjoyed them. I don't block my socks because wearing them will form them to your feet. It's not like a garment where you'll have too-short sleeves without blocking. If you decide to block then yes, you would need sock blockers.

Hi first off thanks for a great tutorial. Second I'm a bit confused as to which needle you pull for your working needle. In the beginning you pull the needle closest to you (front) but then later on in the video you appear to be pulling it from the back.
@OrchardHouseEditing
@OrchardHouseEditing Жыл бұрын
Hiya! I appreciate the question. You should always be pulling the back needle. I can see how in the first section (right after the cast on) it would look like the front needle, depending on the angle. I think it might just have been the angle of how I was holding the needles. Does that make sense?
@prestondemeritt6830

QUESTION: at 11:45 you stated you were going to continue alternating an increase row and non-increase row until you reached the number you needed (48). Doesnt this mean one side would be wider than the other? at 12:45 I counted 24sts on on side. Meaning the other side has 24sts too but if you only increased on one side, that doesnt make sense?? Please explain (making some for my 4yo too!) TY
@OrchardHouseEditing
@OrchardHouseEditing 3 жыл бұрын
Aha! Good question. So a row is one trip all the way around the needles you could also say that you work the front and back and that makes up one row. So both sides are the same. The non increase row means you knit every stitch on both needles without increasing. Does that help? If you need it fully written out it’s on my blog, which is linked in the description box.

Hi Sandi, yep - I'm alternating with the working yarn and the tail. They're essentially going over the needle and then twisting around each other. Check out the article in Knitty where it debuted: knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html

@OrchardHouseEditing

For the toe? For a baby you probably wouldn’t notice, but for an adult size you’ll have a shorter toe section that probably gets wide a little too fast. Try it on!

That's a good question. Yes, there is, but you need to be able to know your gauge and therefore stop increasing the toe at the correct point. For a women's medium (like US Womens 7-8) I would start with trying the 48 st size and see how you want to adjust from there.
