Pulled that unused Singer out of storage. Your encouragement has prompted me to start the repair and try to figure out if I can move more of that yarn into somethings. I love to hand-knit but the fascination of the machine has me watching you. Am glad that you are stirred to get us knitting with machines more. Thank you!

This video is perfectly timed for me. I've been trying to decide whether to acquire a knitting machine and have been looking at a variety of videos and books and researching machines. With clear instructions and a good view of the work, this video has confirmed that this is something I want to do. Your plan to create more machine knitters appears to be working. 😊Now I'm off to buy an LK150!

Get a machine. Get another. Let them procreate until you have an entire room of machines. :)

I already know I want another machine because I want one with a ribber. We'll see how things go with the LK150, then I have to decide whether to go with bulky or standard.
@suziejohnson133611 ай бұрын
@@loriken7 I have many. Standard, bulky, ribbers, French intarsia, you name it. The LK-150 is simple BUT after googling my through many devices its simplicity is what is most attractive and easy to use.

Alright ma'am, I'm starting to think you're some sort of wizard or something. I bought my first knitting machine earlier this month, and while I've been figuring it out pretty well, this is proving to be fantastically helpful. The coincidental timing could not have been better. Thank you so much for putting this together!

Thank you for this! I just bought a knitting machine and do not have any background in knitting. So it was very helpful to have a video that wasn't reliant on a lot of knitting terminology that I just haven't learnt yet.

Thank you for your video. I recently acquired a knitting machine. I have no idea what I'm getting into but am ready for a new adventure. I have hand knitted for years and now at the age of 71 am ready to learn how to professionally make knitted hats and scarfs...to start.

Was super lucky and found a great deal on FBMP where someone was selling their LK150 and SK280. Made my swatches (which is hard as a hand knitter, I hate doing them), washed and dried. Will be making my first hat tomorrow!!

I got sentro machines for my grand-loves which then prompted me to learn more on You Tube. You helped me to go and unearth my mother’s old unused Singer machine. Not sure I’ll get it up and running fully but you have helped me immensely. Replacing foam and needles. I am a handknitter but can see the value of this art to move a lot of my yarn into anything !

Thank you for the double winding suggestion. I have concluded that almost all of my knitting machine woes are linked to yarn misbehaviour. Whether it’s static electricity or hairy sticky yarns or stiff yarns or me trying to knit up some mystery cheap and wiry yarn, possibly recycled steel wool, yarn defiance is what drives me away from knitting for months at a time. I feel I will be forever searching for THE perfect yarn, and when I find it, I am going to buy all of it. But I will also try double winding, as I have observed that my cakes are too tight for my hair trigger carriage cams. Thank you for an excellent, well-paced and very informative video.

I always keep split ring stitch markers handy in case of a drop stitch when you have removed your work. Easy to slip the stitch on the ring until you can get to it to stitch it into your work. Happy to see you on the LK150 a lot of people have these, not only beginners. Yarn is easier to get. Did you ever say what your mast tension was set at?

Ire: yarn weights, had a good , easy experience about 6 mo. ago as a new LK-150 owner Cascade 220 Superwash Aran weight wool yarn (unambiguously a 4/worsted). (I realize you and wool don't get along). This is my first flatbed knitting machine, and I don't actually knit with needles, only messed around for a day or two with a loom and a few days with a circular knitting machine (still my preference for quick, utilitarian hats, not too good for much else IMO) -- you're quite right that previous experience knitting with needles isn't required. (I have a significant amount of retinal damage, so apparently good vision isn't really required either :) )

I had to laugh at the comment about wearing a sweater while machine knitting, because of course I've snagged my cuff on my machine a couple times 😆 Also, I recently machine knit some homespun, so I guess I'm not a beginner anymore, but I did still learn some things from this video 🥰

I agree with others; your video came at a good time. I recently bought a LK150. Regarding the tension swatches, I was thinking of storing my swatch decisions in a folder so I can use them for future work (thus saving yarn). Are these tension swatch decisions related to the yarn or related to the yarn and the item produced?
@iloveharrold10 ай бұрын
I would suggest you make a record of the best tension with what yarn. This might prove helpful in the future and save ttime

I’ve not found the learning curve on the lk150 or my 100 steep really.. I’ve made bias lace scarves, loads of cute dog sweaters, shrugs, tank tops .. fair isle, lace , cables.. I’m honestly finding it pretty easy… But! I just got a kh341 that has a knit leader and trying to figure that out is a challenge!!! The knit radar for the lk150 is equally confusing to me.

@amandag507211 ай бұрын
The American grading system for yarn weight is pretty inconsistent, I recently purchased some US brand yarn in what should have been 4, and was shocked to find that if the yarn was not the same range, but the same brand, the actual weight of the yarn varied hugely, even though they had all been graded as a 4! In the UK the system is different, and your 4 is approximately an Aran weight here. I've not yet encountered that inconsistency with UK or European brands. I had to switch brands as the US yarn could not be used in my project.
