Can you knit extra rows to make the socks crew socks? Will it still work with the folded hem or should you do the cuff on the ribber?
@JaneConnorEmbellisher21 сағат бұрын
I often make the kitchner stitch loosely so I can see it once the waste yarn is removed and adjust the kitchner stitches so they match better with the surrounding stitches. I think I need to do some practice socks. Thank you for the video.

Great demo! Was wondering if you'd make a tutorial for a reusable cast-on placket. What are these things called? I know some circular sock knitting machines come with one, or tell you how to make one. I recently saw EngineeringKnits use such a cast-on placket and very smooth scrap yarn and she did not have to cut anything, or much at all.

Thank you for presenting a great video that a beginner might be able to produce a product and that has some modern day styling. I know I should be content to practice with swatches but that is so uninspiring. Other basic patterns I find look so out dated. I may need to do a little gauge math but this seems doable!

When I bought my LK150, the sales woman demonstrated knitting double-faced fabrics like you did, and every now and then she switched the yarn (1 to 2 and 2 to 1, vice versa), so that she could switch the 'main' color at the right side of the fabric. I loved the effect - I forgot about it but your tutorial made me remember. I'm going to give your socks a try :-D
@24carrotgold83 күн бұрын
Perhaps you said this and I missed it, but to mirror the second sock the short rows for both heel and toe must be done on the left side of the bed. Then both socks will have their seams on the outside of the foot. 👍🤗🧶🪡🧦

Hello. I have a question regarding the side of the toe. Why do you recommend to create the toe on the same side as the heel? I think, if the toe is shaped on the upperside the seam will be on the bottom. Messy seams or color changes will be hidden that way.
@crystald36553 күн бұрын
True but the seam may be uncomfortable to walk on especially in a shoe.

Regia and Opal superwash yarns can both be thrown in the wash on any regular cycles. Also, I'm familiar with Brother 4.5mm standard gauge so I don't know if this applies to the LK150 but Regia and Opal make a DK yarn that might fit better in a mid gauge machine.

Thanks. I love hand knitting socks and tried to knit them with my LK 150. I used one strand and the tension was too loose and the stitches dropped so much like you had happen. After I made worsted slippers successfully and the one strand sock, I quit and went to sweaters on the machine and back to hand knitting socks. I'll have to try 2 strands next on the machine.

All the grease on the metal parts is to prevent metal items from rusting during storage and shipping so that you don't buy a new machine and it arrives rusty because of the humidity in the warehouse it has been in. Its expected to clean that shipping oil off the parts when you receive it.

Cool find! Does it not use a sponge bar?
@tfpanda90505 күн бұрын
I'm curious about the rumor that the sponge bar was added to create the need to service the machine regularly. What mechanism could they use instead that would last longer? If someone were designing a new knitting machine and wanted to make it the best machine possible, what would they do instead?

BTW the 4.5mm gauge of the Brother knitting machine along with the two color knitting per one row of knitted fabric makes this QR code dress possible, because of the lack of image distortion with this color change knitting system. This is not the case for some other machine models. 🤩 Just additional hints and information for those following your inspirations. Yarn size, and stitch size can also affect the row gauge and squaring the QR image results. Good first time QR code results.. The dbj style of knitting also stabilized the image from knit distortion. 🤩

Cute dress. Good Project. Two things. Maybe try thinner yarns for double bed knitting so it won't be a bath mat weight when finished. Second, I see you have a Passap linker to use with your Brother knitting machine. This linker is meant to be used with the Passap knitting machines that have a needle spacing of 5mm. This means when you are placing your knit stitches from a 4.5mm brother standard gauge knitting machine, you need to stretch the stitch loops a bit to get to the next stitch pin on the linker. Even with the Studio and Hague linkers you need to make sure you are getting the correct gauge linker model for your knitting machine. You can fudge the process in a pinch but it works so much better and smoother if the linker machine gauge matches the knitting machine needle spacing or aka gauge. This is especially true when knitting with a bulky machine that doubles the needle spacing from the standard gauge. Viewers and new machine knitters need to be aware of these small differences before making uninformed purchases. Machine knitting can be an expensive learning curve and investment.
