I'm really appreciative of these videos! I'm a male knitter from SF currently living in Tuscany. Two years ago I was living in Berlin, and although I didn't have a lot of the German knitting vocabulary, I was surrounded by people who know how to knit and were willing to help out (Germans usually learn to knit in school). In Italy it's different; I still haven't found my knitting community. These videos give me confidence to start new projects, and I can't wait to begin my first sweater!

Thanks so much for your taking the time to teach us. I've learned a lot already, and also learned some solutions to problems I was having (washing swatches to prevent a shrunken garment for one!) I so appreciate this! I hate to go through all that work just to wear a sweater one time!

You're absolutely right with the washing part because My gauge before i washed the swatch was 5 rows per inch but after i washed and dried it, it was 6 rows per inch.

I am excited these lessons are still up ten years later! If anybody is out there... When you measure the cuffs of the sleeve and the hem of a favorite garment do you need to consider weather they are ribbed or not? How does ribbing and elasticity affect the measurements that should be taken?

What do you do if your "Favorite sweater" has a REALLY ugly neckline and that's why you're knitting a new one? Can I just pull the measurements for a neckline off another sweater?
