My gasp at the inside-out sleeve Did the very same thing with my first shirt sewing project, after hand stitching a million teeny tiny gathers and decided to just live with it It’s 3 years later and I’m now redoing the sleeve

Thank you for mentioning the knit and purls being wrapped differently. When I first started knitting, I couldn’t figure out was I was doing… I have since learned that my knitting method is sometimes called continental combined. My purls end up mounted on the needle “backwards” which I then just correct the next row by knitting the “back” leg- leg on the far side of the needle. It is still the leg closest to the needle tip.

Oh it's gorgeous. I love the way the two yarns worked up together, but yes, a squosh more room would have been lovely, just to fit over more top styles but also to trap a bit more air between you and the sweater. All in all though, it's lovely and yes, a bit longer on the pockets would be nice but wow, dd you ever learn a cool skill!!!

Which way do you wrap your yarn for pearl? I always seem to end up with it going the wrong way when I come to knit into it if I use continental. But when I do English knitting I’m fine, it’s just that I’m twenty times slower. My small brain can’t remember what I did with English style long enough to recreate it in continental though so I get in a mess.
@sadlittlestray Жыл бұрын
it looks like she does combination knitting, so her purls also go ‘the wrong way’. but that’s a valid and very speedy way of knitting if you don’t mind your stitches sitting differently :) so long as you can read the stitches and know how to work them, you don’t have to ‘correct’ your method if you don’t want to. i also knit continental (not combination style) and if you do want your stitches to all sit the same way, the way i remember it is that the right (leading) leg of the stitch should always be in front, so to create the stitch, the yarn needs to come in front of the working needle, over the barrel, then behind it. for me, that means pushing the working yarn down against the top of the needle with my pointer.
@jjudy5869 Жыл бұрын
@@sadlittlestray I love knitting combination or Eastern European as it is less painful for my messed up wrists.
