You are the only one who expained the twist, the reason being to untwist the yarn. That made all the difference. I GOT IT!!! Now on to my first pair of socks. THANK YOU!

This is the best Demo I have seen for this - and I have watched several! Your videos are really good because you explain things as you do them, the video quality is good, AND there is great contrast between the color of the yarn and the background. There may be other knitters that are as good, but you are the BEST for both explaining and great visuals! Thanks bunches!

Many Thanks! I have a pattern that recommends this cast-on. I have tried various tutorials trying to understand it, but yours is the first that does not lose me. It shows how to do EACH step. The vocal instructions are clear. The repetition is nice. Not overly done, and repeated in such a way that the minor variances helped to clarify the steps. Again, THANK YOU!

This is the most helpful video for the twisting cast-on. The only other note is that it's often useful to use a needle a size or two bigger than you'll be knitting with since this can come out a little tight on the needle.

YES! Thank you! This cast on was include in a pattern I was trying and I gave up because of how the video explained it. She did something else to "untwist" the yarn but I couldn't get it and kept ending up with extra loops on my needle. This was sooo helpful. Not a single one of your videos that is not explained to perfection!

Yes, this cast-on is very similar to the long-tail cast-on the way it's worked. So, to make the pretty side of the CO the right side of the work, you'll want to work a WS row after casting-on.

I was taught the basic knit stitch by my aunt when I was about 10 years old, which was almost 50 years ago. I haven't knitted since, and I've just started learning to knit again. It looks so easy when watching other people do it. The knit stitch I find pretty easy, but the purl stitch seems a lot harder to do. And I am terrible at binding off. The passing over is the hardest part. I am wondering if it would be easier to pass over using a crochet hook? I'm thinking of giving that a try, unless it would be a waste of time and wouldn't work, in which case I won't buy one.

@wiwoods4me4 жыл бұрын
Hi. I love the look of this cast on. Absolutely. But..and this is a suggestion for you, humbly asked, there are those times, especially with the first row after cast on, that SOMETHING happens. With this cast on, it turns out to be a wash out for me. How about a video explaining how to follow a cast on. I find myself fearing this one even though.. I have spent so much time trying to figure out the way the path of this one, and some others. Thanks. Sue.
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue - the answer to your question (what to do after the cast on) is in your pattern, so it's not something I can follow up in general terms. Sometimes the pattern will want you to join in-the-round, sometimes the pattern will want you to purl back across those stitches, or knit them, or work a knit purl combination. Anything can happen after the cast-on, it's in the pattern.

Have seen a variation of this where the ball-side yarn is picked up in the other direction and the thumb is not bent. Now I'm going to have to go compare! :)

My bad. It goes through the same way on the yarn side but slips through a different part of the tail-side yarn to keep from bending the thumb.
