Hello Suzanne, I enjoy the German twisted cast on for socks. The problem I have is with the 1st row of ribbing . Some of my knit stitches seem stretched out as if my tension was off. I believe it is coming from the cast on as my knit stitches are fine after the 1st row. Do you know the cause and solution to this problem? Thank you!

I just discovered your channel. I've decided to knit a sweater (I've only knitted scarfs so far). I found you're channel really helpful: my first language is french and I found it easy to follow though. I tried the german twisted cast on, but it's really difficult for me. I'm used to continental method. Is there a way to use the right index finger instead of the left index finger ? I know I could master your method with time, but I can't wait to begin with the sweater. Thanks a lot for your work.

So you count the first as a cast on stitch? How do you join for circular?
@SuzanneBryan3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you count the first loop on the needle as a cast on stitch. If you want to knit in the round, your would just start knitting into that first cast on stitch. You don't need to do anything tricky, after the first round there will be a gap, that is to be expected, but it will soon disappear and you continue doing more rounds. Here is a video on knitting in the round basics. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/omnVnYqEbN9ml6M

Thanks for the video link; I hadn’t watched that particular video before. I like the demonstration of the methods of circular knitting all on one video as you have shown. What is your favorite method of knitting socks, i.e.,, DPN’s , 2 circs, or magic loop? I learned to knit socks on DPNS so it is easiest for me, but am thinking I should try two circulars. I think magic loop is okay but not a favorite.
@SuzanneBryan5 жыл бұрын
I started with dpns as well, but have long since switched to two circulars. That is now my favorite method of working small diameter in the round. Sleeves, hats, mitts, socks, etc. Happy knitting Elaine.
