This video saved my sanity tonight. I'm a new knitter and my cat just discovered my yarn. She chewed threw the yarn I was using on my very first project. But I didn't panic because I had this video bookmarked. Thank you!

You have the absolute easiest method of doing the “magic knot”, from all the videos that I have watched so far on U-Tube! Again, thank you so much for all that you have taught me, as well as showing me how to get out of my “oops” in knitting!

I usually spit splice or Russian braided join. But tonight I’m knitting a linen market bag with a yarn that has a helix twist to it. I panicked for a nanosecond when I ran out of my first skein. Then I sighed in relief knowing that Staci would come to my rescue! Thanks once again for you knitting encyclopedia brain! 🤗

Thanks. I Just found this after looking for a join that would save me all those loose ends to sew in later; especially on the same coloured yarn. I tried the splicing join as that's what mum used to use on her Singer knitter but doesn't work to well on acrylic yarn.

Staci, for an acrylic baby blanket, which methods would you recommend higher, the Magic Knot or the Russian Join? Also, have you ever tried combining them with a Russian Join and then bury the tail ends back into the yarn?

Hi dear, i enjoyed you videos very much and learned a lot of techniques in working tricot ... but i got a problem ... i worked a pullover jacket long sleeves for my friend, but the sleeves from underneath the arm is toooooooo big (circular opening). i always work pullovers and jacket "raglan" to fit the size and to shorten time and effort. Have you any idea how can i fix this. Thanks in advance. Neveen

From what you've described, I don't think there is a way to fix this without reknitting the sleeves. I recommend contacting the pattern designer for assistance.

Looking at knitting a baby blanket using acrylic yarn (got quite a lot of the same colour when it was on offer) so spit splice is out. When joining a new ball would you advise this method or the Russian join? Both seem to be fairly secure naturally it needs to be washable etc.

You know for the life of me I can't figure out why 1 small ball of sock yarn can have the yarn KNOTTED about 3 times! Not talking about a accidental knot but 2 ends of yarn knotted!! What do they use, ends of yarn to make a ball of sock yarn? And of course the knot tends to be in areas I don't want a knot like the turn heel or the ball of the foot. SOOOO I end up cutting yarn and joining at a less inconvenient place. Which is how I came to this video. LOL!

Love your videos and this one is great. Can't wait to give it a try. Does this work with all types of yarn (cotton, acrylic, etc)? I have a pima cotton/model blend that I'm using for a baby blanket and would love to join yarn this way.

i was curious about that as well, acrylic seems to be a bit slick of a yarn, and knots usually come loose in the wash, so will this particular knot hold acrylic (especially caron simply soft)?
@mysteryglo

I guess I did it wrong because I used this on one of my projects and after a few rows past it, it started to come undone! Luckily, I am a loose knitter so was able to re-tie the ends.. I don't think I will risk it again..
@mysteryglo

I really thought that is how I idid it.. Does it matter if the working yarn is facing left and the new yarn facing right? I think that may have been the way I had mine.

does this work better for machine washables like acrylic than weaving in ends? Or is it any machine washable like superwash wool?
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 7 жыл бұрын
You will have to test it out for any given yarn - I've seen it work well on all types of yarn, but I'm sure there are yarns that are too slippery to tightly hold the knots.

I personally would be very careful when using this on socks - depending on where the knot is located, it could be uncomfortable (like on the sole of the foot).
