One thing that often trips me up is when I’m knitting on the wrong side-Is WYIB relative to the right and wrong side of the textile or just how I’m holding it at that moment?
@isetta1514 жыл бұрын
How you are holding it on that row
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
It is "front" and "back" relative to how you are currently holding the work - it doesn't have anything to do with the right or wrong side of the work.

I have a question. Please help me, I`m really stuck. My pattern says (SL 1 WYIB) k this method untill you have 3 sts left). The back is the same but it's (SL 1 WYIF). I`m doing all that and it doesnt look right, it's draging the SL sts up and it's getting tighter as it goes up. The SL sts does not look like sts, just yarn getting dragged up the rows. What am I doing wrong?

That was so very helpful. I love the edge also. But once you waif and slip the last two stitches how do you start the next row? Do you happen to have a tutorial on edges?
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
This video is just showing the WYIF WYIB technique...the actual edging design for this scarf is available in the pattern: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/nauset-light-wrap

This is a timely post. I've been trying to "get with" this technique for months & probably have watched every video about how to do it on the 'net. I just think it's the pattern I'm making..it has too many "new to me" stitches & my brain is shutting down. I'm going to put this pattern down & make some dish cloths. I'm a beginning knitter & I'm trying to avoid "discouragement" setting in. I would be open to a Dishcloth Pattern that includes these two stitches..any suggestions of such a pattern? Thx
@verypinkknits4 жыл бұрын
A dishcloth pattern that includes WYIF and WYIB? I'm sorry, I don't think I know of one. Here is a simple dishcloth, free pattern and video tutorial: verypink.com/2014/03/07/traditional-dishcloth-pattern-free-update/

I know exactly what you mean! I've been knitting for decades, but I still find patterns that are not written clearly, or even have errors in them. Sometimes you just have to back off for a while and as you said, do something simple. Don't be discouraged! You're bigger than those needles. I call it "knitenacity".

I am working on a pattern that says: K2, yf, sl 1, yb, k1, yf, sl 1 , yb, k4 It looks awful when I am done with that row.
@rosalindnicole923 жыл бұрын
I'm working a Shawl, and I'm totally new to Sl wyif. The pattern calls; CO 4 sts; Set-Up row: K1, Sl3 wyif, turn.. I've done it like 10 times and when I start row 1, It looks wrong by the time I rep rows 1-4. Should I ignore it and cont with pattern?
@verypinkknits3 жыл бұрын
I can't answer that...I recommend contacting the pattern designer with your question. Good designers support their patterns and get back to you quickly with answers to your questions.

Does hat mean that the yarn in front will be knit stitch and yib is always pearl ,
@verypinkknits Жыл бұрын
No - your pattern will tell you what stitch comes next. Some patterns will tell you to work a knit stitch "wyif", as a way of creating a yarn-over increase. And stitches can be slipped knitwise or purlwise with yarn in front or back.
