Very thorough description! I never knew there were 3 of each season. In my younger years I always identified with winter, but now, having 70% cool gray hair, I find myself gravitating less toward the very bright winter tones, though I do still like contrast. My veins are mostly blue and skin tone more olive with yellow undertone. I feel I look awful in burgundy and teal, prefer white over cream, wear both gold and silver jewelry, and neutral foundation. I actually like a bright rust worn with black and some darker greens bring out the green in my hazel eyes. Muted colors bring down my mood and I look washed out in baby blue. It’s a a jumble in my head. I appreciate your supportive attitude towards what we should wear! Your top looks remarkably like Camisole number 9 in KFO Merino, Dusty Petroleum. I just finished making it. The color looks much better on you! I wear it with a bright white shirt. I would love to see you make a video for people with gray hair.

Thank you so much for compiling all this great information! I can tell it is really a passion for you. Understanding the colors and values that support our individual characteristics is so important for those of us spending the time to make custom knitted garments. It can be deflating to spend months on a gorgeous knitting project only to feel the finished object doesn't look quite right - or doesn't compliment your coloring! Ill definitely be sharing your video with my friends ❤

As an enthusiast of the seasonal color system, I'm very glad to find a video about it, and such an informative one! I am sure it will help many people to find their seasons

I love this comment! I definitely agree with you on the vein thing, I considered not including it but it can sometimes be true, and I just wanted to have exercises like that so people can take the time to actually try to consider if they are cool or warm. It’s hard to give general advice sometimes, I feel like I can *see* whether people are cool or warm, but sometimes it’s hard to explain why! I also really appreciate your commentary on winter seasons and darker skin tones, I do feel like it was hard for me to get into the differences/nuances there so hopefully people see this comment if they are curious about that thing. I can definitely see Beyoncé as a spring, although to me she runs a bit soft. I also didn’t know that about bright winter being able to pull more warm, that’s really helpful to know!! Thank you for writing this ❤️

Thank you so much for making this video❤! I'm definitely between a bright winter and a true winter, but as you said, there's not a huge difference and it's all good cause I love colors from both seasons😅😂

Possum yarn is definitely a thing in New Zealand. We have the brush tail possum that was introduced from Australia and they are considered a pest here because of destroying the native flora and fauna. The possum fur has to be spin with wool but it was excellent insulation qualities which makes it ideal for garments. It’s also very, very soft!!

Thinking I was a Soft Summer because I liked wearing the colors, but I think I am leaning more towards a cool/true summer. Cornflower blue is spot on :O

True winter here I’ve had my colors done professionally although I suspected what they were. I never really thought about my colors when I was buying my yarn just colors that I liked.

I am floored! My whole life my Mum has told me I am a winter, like her. We are both natural blondes. The colours that look good on me are navy blue, dark cranberry, burgundy, dark purple, chocolate brown, magenta, black and white…can I have it all wrong? 😮
@truesummerknits7 ай бұрын
I will be honest and say I really have never seen a blonde I can see as a winter, I honestly think you have to have dark hair! But like I said, I’m not the authority on it but I do think that. I also think there are colors that can look *good* on you that aren’t in your palette, but the goal of this is for the colors to harmonize with you! Like when someone is in their colors, the colors just seem to go with them if that makes sense. But ultimately if you feel your best in those colors then wear them! But in my opinion, if you know you’re cool toned, I’d experiment with some summer colors!

I’ve been trying to figure out my colour season but I always run into a problem: what if you are in between cool and warm? I think my primary characteristic is that I’m soft so I tend to fall either soft autumn or soft summer. But my skin is pale and definitely cool/neutral toned but my brown hair is warmer and I have hazel eyes. So I can never say which one I would fall into. Am I good using both colour palettes? Or should I lean one or the other?
@truesummerknits7 ай бұрын
Brown hair and hazel eyes sounds warm to me, but I can’t say for sure without seeing you- if you feel like you are primarily soft, at that point I would go to a clothing store or a thrift store and hold some different colored items up to your face that are soft autumn or soft summer and just experiment with what you think looks best! If you feel like you harmonize with both or a mixture of the two palettes, do that! I definitely don’t think everyone fits exactly into the 16 boxes!

I had the original color me beautiful book from years ago. I’ve always been sure I’m a winter because of what looks good on me. I was told summer would look good with highlights in her hair. That doesn’t look good on me I do have very pale skin and dark hair I would have thought you would be a winter ?

I was told years ago that I'm a winter, but I had dark hair then. Now it's silver around my face. Does this mean my season has changed? I'm cool skin toned and blue eyed.
@truesummerknits7 ай бұрын
It’s going to depend, but I do think that as your appearance changes your colors are going to change a bit too. I can’t say for sure but here’s what I would think: some silver might not affect your contrast, but a lot would. The high contrast is ultimately what pushes you from summer to winter (assuming you are cool toned) so if you were previously high contrast and have enough silver hair to lose some of that, I would try out true summer which is the higher contrast of the summer seasons. Not all contrast is in your hair so I would assume you would still have higher contrast in your face and eyes!
@truesummerknits7 ай бұрын
But ultimately I would try to experiment with draping and see how different contrast cool tones make you look/what shades seem to harmonize with your skin and hair
