Machine knitting mitten pattern on a mid-gauge knitting machine.

12:11 - 12:42 The fragment of the video is repeated here. Should be cut out. And at 19:06 there is a cut fragment before you taken the mitten off the machine - you put the other half of the needles from hold to working position and what should be done after that before taking the mitten off the machine? Just knitting several rows with waste yarn? And the ending was cut too - we never saw the end result, but I'm sure it was great. :) Other then that it's a great tutorial as usual. Thank you!

Hi,Anna .on the thumb portion you say ewrap 8 stitches but seem to be working over 16, then reduce back down to eight.Has something been left on the editing room floor? Many thanks for your videos jo

You e-wrap cast on eight extra stitches and then start knitting on those eight PLUS eight that already existed. (You knit on those sixteen with the others in hold position.) Once you knit the whole thumb portion, you fold it down and back and rehang the eight stitches that you just e-wrapped, which leaves you with the same number of stitches that you had to begin with. Sorry that it isn't super-clear.

I hope you do not mind my daily questions. I am the "new guy" and your videos are giving me the best introduction to the concept of machine knitting possible. My question today is: are KX-350, LH150 and the Japanese KH-355 the "same machine", or at least similar enough that I would benefit from getting the English manual from the first two mentioned to understand my soon arriving Japanese machine? Since the carriage has Japanese writing. ( what was I thinking? )

The KX 350 and the LK 150 are pretty much the same machine. I think the KH 355 is the Japanese version of the KX 350 with some sort of electronic contraption (I have never seen one in person) so the settings should be the same. Which machine did you order? I'm assuming it's the KH 355? If so, it looks virtually the same. You can relabel the carriage with masking tape or washable marker while you're learning what the levers do. But yes, you can download the manuals for free on machineknittingetc.com

Hi Anna, Thank you for this video, it's very insightful ☺️. Please may I ask how I can cast off the thumb if I don't have a two eyed transfer tool? I've ordered one now but have the mittens on the machine currently and I'm now stuck! I have a latch tool and a basic one eye transfer tool.

Just use a darning needle and sew off the loops. Go through each stitch and then lift off the hook.

Hi, I’m not sure but check eBay. There are some on there now; some of the descriptions say the same needles that work for the KX 350 fit the KX 395. I don’t have the KX 395 to compare needles, so I can’t tell you for sure.

I believe the carriage for the KH 390 and the KH 400 do intarsia and the carriages fit on the KX 350. Those machines are hard to find and expensive though.

Hello, I'm a hand knitter and a beginner with the machine. Would this technique work on a bulky machine on higher tension? This looks like a great first project.

The technique will work but you will probably end up with a bigger mitten if you use the same number of stitches even at a lower (tighter) tension. But, you should try one with some inexpensive yarn and see how it comes out. It may fit someone or it could just be an exercise in how to make a mitten. The mitten I made was with DK yarn and it fits a medium women’s hand. On the bulky the same yarn would be too thin so you would probably want to use a worsted weight yarn.

You could eliminate the picot row on these mittens and experiment with the number of stitches to cast on and they would work for a boy.

Hi, these machines are only available second-hand. There is a similar machine called the Silver Reed LK 150, which I show in some of my videos that is still available new.
