Going from crochet to knitting, I found it so much easier to knit with circular needles even when making flat pieces. The needles on circulars are shorter and much easier to work with. The increases you got were because of the yarn overs, the parts that look like holes- you can tell when you look at it and see a new column of stitches stemming from the yarn over hole.

your dad is a natural born star lol I learned to crochet before I learned to knit, and continental made everything make sense to me, but the purls took a while to get the hang of even then. for a while, I was knitting continental but purling english. the hearts came out soooo cute, the whole sweater did!

Keep up the good work. You are doing great. Here’s a tip my mom taught me at an early age. If you put the knitting needle that holds the stitches under your armpit (right arm if right handed) to hold the needle in place …everything goes much smoother and more quickly. There is much less stress on your hands trying to hold the needles and knit at same time. Hope this helps. Good luck.

As a crocheter who also just started to knit by making a sweater, learning the "continental" knitting technique instead of the regular wrap around knit technique will help you knit SO much quicker. It's just a quicker technique for the knit and adds less strain to your hands. Good luck with future knitting :)

I, too, choose not to count my rows. I love to crochet. I’ve tried knitting but it doesn’t work for me. I plan to make items I can pass down to my kids as family heirlooms. I admire keeping the mistakes in a project, sometimes it can help you see how much better you end up getting. Which happens fast when you love something. ❤😊

for the bind off i just use a crochet hook! since its basically a slip stitch, crocheting it is way faster for me

I am a crocheter I start last year and I really enjoy it. I’ve been wanting to knit but ngl the whole not being able to see what I’m doing until the project gets bigger on the needles totally turned me off. But after watching your video I definitely think I am going to give it a try as you are the first person I’ve seen not making items with circular needles and because I didn’t know about those I purchased the some like the ones you used I’m really excited to try. I really like your results especially for this being your first time
