I would wear the back in the front. What's behind you won't bother you. It think it is so lovely which ever way you end out wearing it. Of course I am 73 years old and I finally don't care what other people think of what I wear. If I knit it, I'll wear it! Enjoy the work you put into it. It is beautiful!

I have recently started watching knitting videos. It started randomly when I was trying to decide if I wanted to go to Flock. But I started seeing everyone refer to things like I am wearing the _____________ sweater by ___________ I seen so many people wearing the ______________ by ____________. I was intrigued. How is it that everyone knows this stuff. The next fascinating thing to me is how so many people have multiple things on their needles I have one thing. I pick something and knit it till it is done. This is a whole new universe for me. I am moving from true crime to the knitting community and realizing that have been literally living in a cave. I am knitting my first ever sweater been knitting for 18 years. I am knitting the "Elizabeth Blouse from Petite Knits". Finished a couple a weeks ago fingerless gloves "Lace Weight Mitts Stoney Walls Farms" knit is Qiviut yarn. Books also only one "Dark Roads by Chevy Stevens". Finished "Sooley by Grisham" when I traveled this summer. Love your videos thanks.

We all have sensitivities about our hair: I find it amusing when you comment about your hair "getting big" because I have the opposite, fine flat hair, and I always wish I had curls and volume. But really, I've never noticed your hair changing as it drys during an episode, and if I did, I'd think it looks fabulous! It's discouraging when we finally finish something (sewing or knitting) and it isn't the way we expected or wanted. I share your approach and try to see how I can wear it or make it work -- but sometimes I need some distance before I can see the possibilities, or just need to wear it several times after a break. At least with knitting, you can always frog it and knit something else. It can be harder to salvage a sewn garment. I like the suggestion of trying it backwards. I've heard you can cut off the ribbing and reknit it in a bottom-up construction but I haven't tried that myself. Thanks for sharing!

Your vest is very cute! I totally understand the difference between someone looking at the finished version and the person making it with a different vision of it 😘 The color change you see on the yoke rather looks like a natural place that is often used for color blocking. So it doesn't really look out of place. I think you will easily find ways to wear it! When picking sweater sizes, I skip the body measurements (sometimes those aren't even given) altogether and go with the finished size that I want. You will want to remember that blocking a sweater (or anything) wider is going to make it shorter.... sometimes a lot shorter. 😮 I like all your socks and your blanket looks like so much fun 😊 I've never been able to do a scrap project with less yarn than I started with! Knitting, sewing, you name it. I love the Ravelry stash functions! It's been taking a long time to get all of mine inventoried, and it's slowly replacing my written up one. It is easier to select things, definitely!

I love the mentality of it never being a waste even if the product doesn’t have the fit you wanted. As a newer knitter with only a few garments under my belt I feel like only one of my sweaters has come out with a perfect fit and it was one I was knitting for my mom! So here’s hoping my next one is better and I have a good sweater to wear by fall. 😅 It’s a good thing I love the process of knitting! ❤

Totally understand about being a bit disappointed with the outcome of your vest but it's still really cute!

P.s. I did read a book called The Husbands about a year ago, but by Chandler Baker. Mystery, suspense, eye-popping slow reveals, surprises 😁

Oh Whit! Next bottom up sweater/vest put a sweater that you like wearing underneath it to measure it. It’s good for sleeve placement and length. I’ve had garments come out too small too…and I was following the directs. If it makes you feel any better, every tessellated I’ve seen has been too small. I think the stitch pattern is deceiving. Your socks and shall are beautiful! ❤️

I can so much relate to your experience with the too small vest! In the previous year or so I’ve knitted myself not one but two vests that were too small for me. 😂 The first one became too small because didn’t have enough yarn so I thought I’d play safe, and chose the size according to my bust even if I should’ve gone one size up to get the perfect, slightly oversized fit. And actually the same thing happened with the second one too. But I think the most prominent reason are my shoulders and my “frame”. Even if my cup size is extremely small, I have broad shoulders and a broad chest (yes, small cup size and broad chest 😂). And I just should learn to size up especially when knitting. Sewing has been a bit easier for some reason don’t know why. Anyway, lessons learned (sort of).

Laura Penrose was just talking about fitting a yoked sweater and that going off bust alone doesn’t work. Something to keep in mind going forward for sure!

I wonder if because we can reproduce garments so accurately as sewists whether it sets us up to be slightly aggreived by knitting? I love the mosaic pattern looks wonderful.....give it a little time and distance like you say. Stash knowledge is key !! Am reading Threads of life and listening to The lie in our marriage......but nearly had to stop 😂😂😂. I think I struggle a bit with novels where there's a tension of emotional threat!! Happy making Whit!

I actually had to stop cleopatra and Frankenstein because it got a little too heavy for me.

How do you decide on books to read? I just saw the NYT 100 best books from this century..so far..and I am going to tackle some of them. I do like audio books so that I can knit or craft.

I get recs from sources online, friends, just looking around the library. I should share my favorite places sometime!

Whitney, can you wear the vest the other way around so that the color change and error in the pattern is on the back?
@whitmakes3 ай бұрын
Well the line goes all around right there! But that is an idea
