Always love your podcast! my husband and I have also been foster parents and have had to make hard decisions like that as well. we have since Foster to adopted. but we had a similar placement and we've been able to keep a connection with that child. ended up the perfect family adopted her... she graduates from high school this year and she will be the first in her family to go to college! We are so proud of her ❤️❤️ making sure kids are in the right placement is just as important as fostering in general❤️❤️

So happy to see you back, Makayla! Will be praying for you to adjust to having to let the baby go and regain your own "family" status - so very hard. Love your purple cardi - that color looks fab on you! Love your little kerchief, too (and the inset picture where you're wearing a vintage fabric top - that was from me, and I KNEW you would look so cute in it!! 🥰). Hope your garden turns out just as you're hoping! 💖

So glad to see you again, you have been missed! Love your sewn top, actually love everything you shared today, especially the purple cardigan. I knew you would want to add little flower buttons before you said it. You made the best decision for your foster child, your family and yourself. It took courage to acknowledge that the best interests of all would be served by placing the child with someone who has the support of teenagers who can help. Please try to divest yourself of any lingering guilt. The child is in better circumstances and so are you and your family, it is a win win all around.

I loved your podcast! 😍 All of your projects are so pretty. I really want to knit a pressed flowers cardigan sometime. I have yarn to make a Whitmoor cardi but haven't gotten it started yet. I love your purple cardi. It's my favorite color. Yours will be so soft. It's so cool that you made a coat out of your quilt!! It's lovely! Well done, Makayla! 🥰 I look forward to seeing your garden in bloom!

It was so lovely to get to catch up with you!! Your sewing projects are just adorable. The sewing part of my brain always freaks out a little when you mention that you don't follow instructions and just wing it... But your projects are turning out beautifully so it must work for you! 😅 Your quilt coat is absolutely amazing. Now I feel like I need to keep an eye out at the thrift store for an old quilt to make one for myself! All your knitting projects are so springy. I might need to try out making myself a bandana because my hair is a similar length to yours and I could see how something like that would be very useful at keeping my hair out of my face. The Tille cardigan is such a beautiful pattern! I love how it's so simple from the front but has all that beautiful lace in the back. I'm glad your little foster girl is doing so much better, but I'm also sorry it's been such a tough year! I can only imagine how hard it has been juggling everything and trying do what is best for her and your own family all at the same time. 🥺❤❤ I'm so glad God worked everything out so well in His timing. It is such a blessing when that happens. Even if it doesn't make everything magically better all at once, I have found that when it does happens it helps me feel not quite so alone or helpless. I'm sending you a big cozy, virtual hug!!

We didn’t foster but over our 36+ years of marriage we took in many “strays” and after 14 years of infertility/childlessness we adopted 3 girls (half sisters) who are now 21, 22 and 23. There is so much involved in fostering and/or adopting. We are glad we absolutely know God brought us these girls because it has been a fulfilling but extremely difficult journey. (Our oldest had brain surgery Jan 14 and then her husband of 2 years left her for another woman while she was recovering. Heartache!) By the way, I’ve seen some people look good in gray but I am not one of them (I am a spring/fall on the color charts.) When I wear gray or black people think I belong in a casket - I look so pale. Give me bright warm colors 😊

Halfway through your video but I thought I'd never remember every thought so I'll write one now 😆 your blue dress with the coaster is sooo cute! I love it 😍 And your quilted jacket is so cozy! I love it. It'll be like a big hug every time you put it on. What a great hat alternative. I actually prefer the size yours came out Vs the original. It covers more of the head so should be good for keeping the sun off. I may need to rediscover my crochet hooks 😆

So lovely to see you again! You are so very talented with your sewing and knitting. Whatever decisions you make in life, you always need to take into account your own needs and your family's. You helped where you could when you could so don't feel guilty. It sounds like the child involved has maybe gone to someone who can devote more time as their children are older! It might be something you go back to later in life xx

It was so great catching up with you and seeing all the color that you are knitting with! That anthology throw is a serious beast and is stunning!! Congrats on getting the whole thing done! I've really been wanting to knit a blanket (maybe a scrappy blanket) with fingering yarn, but I've worried that maybe my family is too young for this kind of blanket (because of spills, body control 😆, lol). You mentioned that you have little ones and I see you have blankets like this! Do you have any tips for maintaining your blankets? I want it to be well-used and well-loved, just not ruined 😅 I can't wait to see your Advent Wrap all knit up; I've been eyeing that one for a while! I can't imagine how difficult that decision was for you and your family, but I'm glad to hear that you've seen positive things from the hard decision already 🧡 sending my love and prayers!

Thanks so much!! To be totally honest, I don't let them use the handmade blankets unless we're all cuddled up for a movie or something like that. Where I can watch them 🤣 as they get older I'm sure that rule will change but we have so many store bought blankets, so far it hasn't been an issue! Lol
