Thank you for this lovely pattern. I use 2 circular needles if I don't have a 16" at hand. One of them is usually a half size bigger or smaller, but that is okay. I start the first round with the second needle ( joining the round as usual), and knit to the end. The first needle is now available to be used for round 3. I continue that way to the very end, works well when decreasing at the crown too.

Just followed your tutorial on double thick cuff hat. The hat looks great in Illimani Santi - Colour Lilac Season. My next project is the Fisherman's Rib Hat and Scarf. Pattern downloaded and your tutorial video all set to begin. Staci, you are definitely the best knitting instructor. You clearly present all the steps of a project in a well paced manner with links clarifying any new concepts. The videos of your tutorials are superb with excellent close-ups of all stages of the project being presented. I am hoping to do the fisherman's rib hat using the two-color fishermans' rib by alternating a light and dark color on alternate round (in-the-round).

No...the button doesn't really touch your head. I can see how it might bother someone on a tight hat, but this hat has a bit of ease and isn't tight across the top of your head, especially with a flat button.

@@verypinkknits I changed to color #2 last night, but not before I tried a technique that uses a lifeline, then picks up stitches in the new color. I had a lot of trouble trying to control the tension. I am using bamboo needles and acrylic yarn in the proper weight class. Having gotten in the picked up row and a plain knit row, it occurred to me that the formation of the knit 1 below stitches would cover at least every other purl bump. I ended up pulling that all out and started again switching colors as per your pattern. It seems a bit uneven, the knit side looking like the knit below stitches reach a bit farther down. Do we really need to do a straight knit row for the first row when changing to the next color?

When you say 16 inches, is that from needle tip to needle tip or just the measurement of the cord?

Tip to tip.

Staci, it's another excellent video. How do you get your decreases to look spectacular?
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Regarding your question, are you asking a general question? The decreases in this hat look good because of trial and error (a normal part of knitting design) - working from an idea, then putting yarn to needles and tweaking and reknitting to refine the idea into a good design.

How long did you make your scarf? I don’t see on the pattern how long the scarf is. It would be necessary to know the length of the scarf so that you have enough yarn when knitting the scarf in thirds of each color.

Aren’t you adding stitches each time you do a one below?
@verypinkknits
@verypinkknits 4 жыл бұрын
No...because you're knitting below the stitch INSTEAD of knitting the loop on the needle. So your stitch count should not change.

Super nice. How long is your scarf? Hat turned out nice although it wasn’t easy! I got the same colors as in the video

The general rule of thumb is to make the scarf the same length as the wearer's "wing span" or as long as they are tall.

I just started your pattern for the Fisherman's Rib Scarf. When I do the purl stitch and remove the stitch from the needle, it looks like a dropped stitch. I think the outcome might be ok, but definitely not as nice as yours. Am i doing something wrong?

Because you're purling into the stitch below, it does end up looking like a dropped stitch right after you work it. But it all turns out correctly.

Can't wait to try this. But you don't do anything special for joining in the round. Do you have issues with ladders. And thank goodness for lifelines!

No - no issues with ladders, and I don't do anything special when I join in the round.
