I’m sorry that I didn’t get to see you a wool & folk or at rhinebeck. This was my first time going to wool and folk and I was so disappointed. I agree with you that it would have been nice to sit and have lunch. It was WAY TOO CROWDED when we went. You couldn’t even enjoy the experience. I hope that next year will be better but I definitely want to try Indy Untangled. Hope you are enjoying your traveling. Hi Toaster and Ken. Fondly Diane

Thanks for this video. I was caught up in the mess at Wool and Folk and wondering what I missed at the other pre-Rhinebeck events. I really appreciate the vendor highlights and I'm making a mental list of folks to order from once I work through all my Rhinebeck purchases.

Thank. you so much, best video ever. You are showing all the yarns close up and slow. I'm drooling over all the colors especially the pinks and bright blues. I see so many yarns I would want, but, I'd need to win the NY state lottery just buy everything. If I won I could hire a limo to drive me up there and back, and I could buy whatever worsted and bulky yarn I want. I like working with size 8 and 10 1/2 for hats, scarves and cowls. Well I'm happy I went to NYC Yarn Crawl. Natalie, you did an amazing job, so many other videos they just flew through the tents. I like that you took the time to showcase all the beautiful yarn, and name of company. I was so happy to be able to get a skein of "Yarn Over New York" at Knitty City. The Artist who hand dyes the yarn is so nice. We had a nice long conversation as we are both Artists. It's a fingering weight, I double stranded, and I'm now making a hat with it. I got some more of the Luminous Brooklyn yarn again in color Shock Value, but this time in worsted weight. Going to try and experiment to see if I can make my reversible cable pattern as a cowl, instead of a scarf. I think I would need 8 cables going around. I just finished the scarf with the Hedgehog Fiber yarn. It is 63 inches long with 34 cables.

This was my first year at wool and folk and my husband and I left very early for all the reasons you mentioned. Something else that was really difficult was how dark everything was. It made the shopping experience even that much harder. I hope this is something they address soon and maybe one day I will attend again! Thank you for highlighting some of these vendors cause I feel so terrible for them and would look to support their hard work.

It was very dark! Our camera picked things up really well even in the dark, but personally we struggled to see at multiple events. Luckily the vendors were cool with people moving the yarn into better light to see!

thank you for adding the extra comments about wool and folk after reading about other people's experiences. accessibility should be planned into an event, never an afterthought, and it sounds like the organisers really didn't have this as a priority. i also encourage you to imagine your disappointment at not making it upstairs due to time constraints, and consider that for a wheelchair user, no amount of extra time would matter, the upstairs was not accessible to them. the fibre arts community should be for everyone and this event was not an example of the inclusive spirit that the community should embody.

WOW! So much fiber in one place 💕The yarn coffee was so cute. I guess I don't quite understand the concurrent events. It's almost like they need to each be their own fair since you can't see everything in one day. Or maybe add in a Thursday or a Monday? Im assuming its to tap into the masses of yarny people there for Rhinebeck? It seems like they could space out the events/fairs so that it could be like a month or season of yarny goodness.

The Sheepyshire is one of my favorite dyers, I had to get their Tin Roof, Rusted colorway! Every month Tara and Mike do a dye off where they each dye a monthly colorway and whichever sells the best that month the other person owes the winner a dinner, so cute! We were at Indie Untangled the same time slot as you but did the barns in the opposite order. I am a big big fan of the timed tickets and will probably go back to doing Indie and Cake on Friday's of that weekend after my other experience. Thank you for acknowledging some of the issues us shoppers and the lovely vendors experienced at WF.

Thank you for your complete explanation of the events at Rhinebeck. As someone who lives on the west coast and has never attended this fiber festival, it was very helpful to see all the various venues. I also appreciated your assessment of the Wool and Folk exhibit as I have heard so much about what happened this year--so sad for those vendors who depend on those shows for their income. I still have one question, though. When you were all showing your purchases, you talked about Rhinebeck. Is that purchases you made in the town or another venue? Thanks so much--it was fun to see your take on this festival, and to be introduced to your podcast.

I have been considering attending the New York experience. After reading many vendor and customer reviews of the 2023 Wool and Folk, I'm very happy to take that off my bucket list. I am fortunate to have the MD show close enough to visit and enjoy in May. Even with the heavy chilly rain there in 2021, I took my 80-year-old mother, and wearing our waterproof boots we were able to navigate safely, get indoors, find food trucks and use the bathrooms, sit and rest, shop and see the sheep, dogs, fleece, demos, and all of the offerings. I feel for everyone who spent $50 plus to walk into W and F and I truly hope the vendors are partly refunded for this disaster.

Maryland is a great show! I would say it’s comparable vendor-wise, but there is something about being in upstate New York in the fall! Wool and Folk is only one event and not the main one, so please don’t write off the whole weekend because of it! Cake and Indie were great and the Sheep and Wool Festival is always a good time.

From Reddit: As far as I’m aware, vendors that still need some help:: Still in the negative:: Herd supply co, Desert panda fiber arts, Circle Of Stitches, Megs & Co, Home Row Hand Craft, & Shiny Wear Co. Did Not Make A Profit:: Cesium Yarn, McMullen Fiber Co, & Lavender Lune Yarn. People shopped their hearts out, and now these businesses are okay from where they were negative or broke even:: Botanical Yarns, Sinful Yarns, Robin’s Promise, & Beautiful Syster.

@KnittyNatty

Cake and Indie are time slotted shopping events, so they are very similar! Indie also has some space to hang out and knit/crochet as well as food trucks. Wool & Folk is not time slotted and is a longer event. In the past it's included music, speakers, and space to hang, though that was different this year.
