You're the best Jim. The Nymble X is one of my favorites! I've learned of some great knives from you and I appreciate that. That's what I watch KZbin videos for, new knives that might not be on my radar. Your honesty and integrity put you at the top of the pack brother.

@15:57 I’d say, with a high degree of confidence, that you are the most professional knife reviewer around… anywhere. Irrespective of subs, view counts, and likes, don’t think anyone who actually takes a look at the end product with a critical eye could deny that Jim Skelton videos are clearly head and shoulders above the rest. It’s a textbook case of “often imitated, never duplicated.” No one else has that perfect combination of longevity, production values, personality, objectivity, unique content, product knowledge, and relationships with industry icons, that has become a hallmark of this channel.

Metal Complex is one of them. Never gives a bad review because his viewers are the ones sending the knives for review. Also, if you politely critique a Hinderer, you are on his bad side.
@Adamas112 жыл бұрын
Well said! Additionally, he puts out multiple videos/day. Way over saturated and hollow content. I can see why his subscriber base = very slow growth.

What happened to Jim’s patreon giveaways? I paid bro 10 A month for like nearly a year at the promise of patron only giveaways. I’m only bringing this up in response to you criticizing metal complex. Have you seen EVERY video ? He’s definitely posted negative stuff. He did address my concern, but at the same time, I have zero recollection of there being any updates via Instagram, or the Patreon, that he was told he couldn’t do giveaways, well, technically, they weren’t giveaways. More like raffles.
@nightstalker8242 жыл бұрын
@AdequateMedia why are you asking me what happened to the patreon? I don't fucking know, nor do I care. And no, I haven't seen EVERY video, but plenty of them to give a rational opinion.

Yep, all good though. Nothing wrong with firing shots. I think MC is the only knife channel that puts out multiple vids per day.

@@Adamas11 yeah. It doesn't really bother me. I have no horse in this race. I was just stating an opinion. I don't religiously watch either of these guys, but I think Jim gives a better unbiased review. Like I said, I don't watch every video he puts out, just ones that I'm interested in.

The problem is that by the time someone introduces a new knife, it is usually sold out everywhere or pre-orders have ended! 😮💨 I've had this problem with several knives, including the Atlas! 😪 I sold my Tom Mayo Dr. Death to buy the Atlas but unfortunately it was for nothing! 😭😭😭

Another amazing video Jim. I've been loving your videos since day 1. I can't believe it's been 10 years already. Keep up the good work. I've always been into art and design, and of course the beauty of custom knives, and wanted your advice on how I could turn 2 of my own knife designs into a reality. After all this time I have thought out every single detail and angle and dimensions of the designs, but how do I now go about turning these designs into actual production models, made by a really good and reliable company? and to have you review and keep the very first made model would be an honour. Any advice would be much appreciated. All the best!

I don't own any customs, at least yet as I'm thinking of getting into them this coming year but I do own some pretty pricey production knives tht cost about up to 700 bucks. That being said I carry my heavily customized Spyderco pm2 more than anything lol 🤦♂️ idk why I just love that damn knife, I even actually gutted my buck I got in November with it bc I forgot my hunting knife at home. My second favorite though is my full ti chaves liberation. I'd really love to get a custom Chaves one of these days.

Dude, l've been watching your channel from the begining, l was right there when the whole "clonegate" went down w/ you & LTK (that night). I watch every video you make & have been subbed for many years but, at the end of the day, you are a pitchman, thats why, l find it hard to beleive your 100% in this for the the love of knives. I do think you absolutely love knives & are knowlegeable about this hobby. Ive been around for a while myself, seen great knife guys come & go on youtube. I dont think its a great idea to talk about your integrity when 15 or 20 years ago you used to hock crappy watches on hsn. I dont usually make these type of comments - but bro, YOU ARE A SALESMAN. Nothing wrong w/ that Jim.

I have knives that are not for sale at any price. They are all knives that were given to me by someone that cares. You can tell. If that guy made it clear he made that for YOU then yes, he is probably pissed and his feelings are hurt. Do you have to care? Nope. I would not be holding my breath waiting for him to make you another one though, and if he has a buddy that makes knives you won't be getting one from him either. Some people don't care. People are weird, had a guy get mad because I didn't sell a knife he made for me. I liked it just fine I just had others I like better and just didn't carry it. Ran into him and he asked what I was packing, I showed him, he asked about the one he made, I politely told him I really liked it but don't carry it. He said it was going to waste. That I should have passed it on if I was never going to use it. He actually wound himself up till he was quite upset about the whole thing. I found a good home for that knife.... Anyways. Everyone is different and it pays to at least try to pay attention.

Oh Jimmy hat, your probably going to catch hell for this one, but you couldn't be more right. I hate what knife KZbin has become. 6 years ago I would be up till 2a.m. trying to watch everything I wanted to watch because it all was interesting and real. Now it seems more about promoting all available avenues for funneling money to ones account. I don't have any problem with anyone making money, but when that's all you are about, the content just seems hollow and soulless...idk. A kind of example, or maybe completely irrelevant thing that bothered me recently was the BBB Spyderco manix that came out in 15v, it fukn pained me to the core to see so many people who had no idea what that BBB stood for, or why 15v blade steel was used etc. I know because I watched Shaun pour his heart and soul into learning everything he could about steel, heat treat, hrc, knife making, and cultivating friendships with Sal and Eric, and becoming a successful knife maker. And offering custom heat treatment on his knives. He shared alot of his journey and knowledge on KZbin, no fancy editing, no asking for money or subs, just good honest content . I may have veered off the road there , but you get my point hopefully. I'd rather watch 1 good video a week, than have 3 a day that have nothing to offer. Thanx Jim, great vid!
