My grandfather was a pipe smoker, he was always digging away at the bowl of his pipe. The knife he carried for the purpose was a small folding knife with a celluloid shell and two blades. He kept it razor-sharp, and I never forgot it. Imagine my surprise when it turned up at the bottom of Pops' old fishing tackle box. That was sixty years ago, and I've carried every day since. Cherish that knife..

I would love to have my grandpa knives. He passed away when i was very young. I would've loved to see his pocket knife choices as he was a salesman. My grandma is with me now and was sad she left her pocket knives she had so i bought her a victorinox climber and was really happy. Simple enough to use yet has more modern materials.

Thank you for this amazing comment! Yes I miss him. But how can you be angry? He lived to be 98. Yes I miss him, but the stories and the way he lived his life lives on. I hope you have a fun time with him while he is here, don’t ever take anything for granted. Many years ago, they actually lived outside out subdivision, only about a 5min drive. I wish I had spent every Saturday with them, instead of skateboarding. Oh how I wish I could have been there every Saturday having coffee, and sharing stories. Sure I was only 14/15 and that was the issue, it was all about me, no one else. Now I know time with others is what truly matters. God bless you.

Hey Mark, nice set of knives! I’m finding a bunch of you knife enthusiasts now since I started my own channel! Nice to subscribe to fellows with similar interests! My grandfather was a bit older, a WWI vet and a blacksmith. I am looking forward to making a video on the tools I have given to me. Thanks and glad I found you!

Gave me any possible memories of what he may have done with these knives. I never really saw him use a Pocketknife. But seeing these in the history, he’s had with them makes me believe he use them quite a bit.

👍🏼sorry for your loss. Love seeing your grandpa knives. I have several of my grandpas. My first knife is a Lone Ranger folder from my grandpa. Still have it. My favorite is a green hammer brand. I keep it in my pocket pouch. It was very rusty inside. I soaked it in vinegar over night. Washed, air compressed, heatgun dried, and oiled it. I have to say I hope you don’t polish them too much. Just de-rust and clean up. Good vid. :)

Try some drops of really any kind of oil on the pivot points, let it soak in a short time. Should help with opening.

Hi Mark: I’m very happy for you to have these knives. I totally agree to keep them as they are. I’ve been trying to track down MY Grandfathers knife for years and so far no luck. It’s in a drawer in my Aunts house, I think. She is quite elderly herself now and lives very far away. It’s an old camp knife and I remember him shaving his nails, cutting plug tobacco, and everything else with it. Wonder if I’ll ever get it in my lifetime. I’m no kid myself. 😊

Don’t worry, it will turn up! I originally thought he only had three pocket knives, and then push all of these showed up.

I don’t have any of my grandfathers knives but I do have his Remington 870 Wingmaster 12ga with 26” Barrel and modified choke made in 1957 So that’s better than most knives imo and I have about 200 knives I’m loving your grandfathers old knives I wouldn’t mind having all of them but a couple of them are really special I appreciate what you said about your grandfather’s longevity I felt that way too However since he died almost twenty years ago and I am now the oldest man in my family and dealing with cancer I have begun to miss my grandfather and all my family who have passed away very much I suppose you will start to feel that way sooner or later too Thank you for another fine video

that Case redbone senator looks 50's or 60's period. Get the Flitz out and polish up those knives. WD-40 will take the dirt out of the backsprings and joints. Just keep spraying it in and the filth will pour out

@Mark Coffman The stamp on the bolster was only used for a couple years after WWII. Warthogg has a video on it with lotsa good info.
I understand the sentimental value of keeping them much as they are, But for me I would consider a good simple repair to good working order, With a drill press you could safely remove the front blade pin and redrill a slightly larger hole to fit a corresponding pin to take out the excessive blade wobble, Done right you would not notice
