This is one of my favorite pours right now. The proof point is what really makes it for me and helps it slot nicely between the 100 proofers and the single barrel reserve. If you blend it yourself you’d still be stuck at 100 proof.

I was in Washington DC a few weeks ago and went to a bourbon bar called Jack Rose. The place itself is incredible and has a separate section downstairs where you can buy some of the bottles. The Knob Creek Bourbon+Rye was something I had been looking for and now that I've seen your positive review, I'm looking forward to popping it open. 🥃

Had a pour at a local store here in the Chicago area. Definitely got the spice and pepper notes, plus the hug. I’m not a big rye fan but immediately thought it would be good in a cocktail.

Knob Creek 9y 120p is a huge favorite of mine. Such an amazing value for the money. Best KC pour for the money by far, so far. I found the KC10r locally but passed since I’m trying to resist the FOMO impulse lately 😅

I have store picks of Knob Creek single barrel bourbon and rye, so I could blend something like this myself. The single barrel store picks are higher strength than the standard versions, so they would likely be a close approximation for this blend. However, I am lazy, and the price is right, so I might be tempted if I happen to see this. Knob Creek was my first bourbon way back in the 1990s when a friend recommended it. To this day, I still like it.

Here in Texas, just bought it yesterday, and am drinking it now. "Sipping" is more accurate. This gets you squared away in half the time of other drinks.

Just picked one up earlier this week. It's good but it is rye forward. I get some almost minty citrus. Hard to beat at 113 proof. I thought about blending the KC rye and a SiB bourbon, but I wouldn't be able to get to 113 proof using the same ratio as BxR expression. Jason, LFGM!

It’s pretty solid for the price. Especially with other bourbon/rye blends being more expensive. It holds up in an old fashioned but I’m curious if there are any others it’d be good in

I like KC generally and have a lot of them, including this new pick up. I think this release is purely about stocks. They have excess stock of both the bourbon and rye and arent selling through quick enough, so have smartly put together a blend and at a proof point that cant be duplicated at home with existing bottles. This is yet another sign of the vast expansion in production over the past 10 years and supply starting to catch up with demand.

Did you try the Redwood Empire Devil's Tower (high rye)? I realize its a different blend and lower proof, but I loved it. Wonder how the KC would compare to it and other High Rye bourbons.

I will definitely pick this up for the value. An interesting comparison would be to blend a KC Rye Select at 115 Proof and a KC Single Barrel Reserve at 120 proof. Would get closer to that 113 proof point of BxR and bring much more depth of flavors I bet.

@@steveno7058 well the master blender isn’t blending excellent single barrels in mass for this new line right? They would save the best SBs for the actual SB releases. So definitely could end up with a tasty home blend. But ultimately I’m not arguing that the Master Blenders aren’t head and shoulders above casual whiskey enthusiasts. I was simply proposing a tasty experiment. Cheers

One downside of self blending is it will be only 100 proof instead of 113. Unless you go with single barrel Knob Creeks which cost more

Be tough to blend this at home given that it's 113° and its elements are finished at 100°. Also, we don't know what the respective proofs were before blending, which could alter that 70/30 proportion. Still, I'll give it a whirl just for shits and giggles. What could go wrong, lol.

If you buy and blend then you'd only have 100 proof blended. Even if you get a sib 120 proof and blended at that percentage then youd be around 106 proof ...113 proof is solid for 45 bux at this blend

​@paul_romero_ yes, but at the end, he specifically mentioned just buying the small batch 9 year bourbon and 7 year rye. Those are 100 proof. You have to buy the much pricier single barrels to get that higher proof (single barrel rye is 115 proof, single barrel bourbon is 120 proof). By the way, I do have both the rye and bourbon in both small batch and single barrel. So I will try making my own bourbon x rye blends.

To me, the KC Rye is already bourye type to begin with. The addition of bourbon is just going to take that down more. Yet the rye seems to come forward almost as much as the regular rye. I'll just stick with the regular rye personally.

To make it at home you’ll st least need a single barrel rye at 115 proof… The proof on this is 113. The standard KC9 and KCR7 are only 100.
