You guys are sooo much fun to watch! I've been viewing your channel for the past couple months and there is a real bond with your life. When my years were much fewer than they are now I had the desire to sail a boat in the open seas. For some reason to sail around Cape Horn was a fascination, and survive of course. Today I am grateful that you have invited me aboard La Vagabonde to traverse the oceans with you vicariously through KZbin. May the wind always be in your sails and your compass hold true! Godspeed and God bless.

I really enjoyed this episode which made me renew my remembrance of Napoleon, and his Josephine who died of a broken heart when he divorced her. Narcissism at it's height led to his inevitable end - virtually alone and sick. But really, its the chemistry between you two, Elayna and Riley, and the love of the sea. Thanks to you two again. :)

You’re doing a great job having fun, I like that part. What I miss is Riley talking to old seaman’s about fighting the sea and the cruiser life stories. The island life that you had. You leaving footprints in the sand that no one would see but you. Remember when clothes was an option. Check your old videos.

Hi all. Love the channel. However as a Perth based yachtie I have some bad news and it is called the Australian Tax Office. If you own a boat that you have bought overseas, hold an Australian citizenship and sail the boat to Australia, you must pay import duty and GST before you can leave. This applies even if you visit for 10 minutes. The total rate is just a tad over 15% of the value of the vessel. Assuming the vessel is worth $1,000,000, that would mean a payment of $150,000.
@GivesAMinute7 жыл бұрын
I think I recall from an earlier episode they actually do not own the boat - Outremer own it.

A couple of thoughts: 1. I'm wondering if the difference between the man who told you that thank you on Corsica is "gracie," and the other who told you that it's "merci" reflects the tension between those who see themselves as Corsican and desire independence, and those who see themselves as French and wish to stay in union with France; and 2. Yes, Australians, like Americans (like me), denizens of relativley new countries with few old buildings, are always awe struck by how common very old buildings are in Europe. And, of course, they come even much older than Napolean's birthplace.
@GozHDR7 жыл бұрын
Aaron Feldman Hey, so I might have kind of an answer for the first bit (if it still interest you) since i'm Corsican myself : Actually it might just be a misunderstanding. The official language of Corsica is still french, but we used to talk our own language for a really long time (imagine it as a derivative of italian if it helps to picture it). The thing is, in Corsican we do use "Gracie" as "Thank you", but since most of us speak french (and some exclusivly) the most common use is to thank someone with "Merci", the french word. I don't think it was a reflection of the tension (even though i don't deny they exists, especially at the moment I write this comment) but just a misunderstanding, the first one translating in the language while the other one just presenting the common use. Still, a good part of Corsicans doesn't speak french while discussing with their friends, but it's more like an alternation between both languages in day to day life, speaking Corsican mostly to people you know can at least understand it. I might be totally off though, and it's totally possible you're right and they spoke to an independentist ! We will never know i guess :P

My relative was Admiral of the Fleet Sir George Cockburn, as a fellow captain you might find his story interesting, he was apart of the famous burning if Washington and what sparked my reason of this message was he actually conveyed the ship that delivered Napoleon to Saint Helena. Riley maybe you too will become the admiral of the fleet of La Vagabondes. Love your videos and if you guys make it to the furthers eastern point of Australia I’d love to meet you all. Cheers safe iso and hopefully ur sailing soon

Lovely video again guys, great job Elayna and Daniel. So nice to see Corsica again, I've spend my first holiday with my wife over there in the summer of 1989(yes I know, long time ago). Started as you did in Calvi and travelled (backpacking) down the west coast and around to Porto-Vecchio (just north of Bonifacio). Lovely to see the island from the sea as well :-). I really should follow you guys in your footsteps, buy a boat and just do.

I love that you guys visits these sites and I feel far more relaxed and at peace knowing that you guys are safe. Venturing off to Greenland gives me the willies. Elayna, hi! I'm not just old, I'm an old sailor! Here' is my take on Sea sickness! I have found that the best working thing is "laxative"! Pardon my French, but the grease and other hard to digest toxins in your gut are what turn you green! If you're clean, you won't come green! I recommend; a level tea spoon of baking soda with a shot glass of ACV (apple cider vinegar)! No worries mate! I've been doing tis for going on three years now. First thing out of bed, I down a glass of water and after a couple of minutes the glassful of Alkaline. (Anti-cancer and anti-everything!) I'm 79 and planning on soloing to NZ and OZ in the coming Summer in a 27ft Sabre. I might have a nurse! Lol. Sarah, a 23 yr. old may come with me. We'll see! I'm just as worried about carrying her as she is of coming! I'm in great shape! It's really fun to watch you guys. I'm addicted to La Vagabonde! I would support youz but I have to get ready. I love Riley, I think he's bad! Back to #107. The green episode! I'm not laughing! Bean there, dun dat!

Elayna, the rocks are like because of the way they are formed, and what happens to them over time. They are sedimentary rocks, meaning they are built up layer by layer. They were once a sea floor. The tilted rocks are because of uplifting from below, where rocks are lifted up, then tilted by geologic forces.
