Sailing La Vagabonde

Күн бұрын

Join us in the breath taking crystal blue waters of Barbuda as we take on Sharks, Lobster and Marlin! Days where we seem to spend more time wet than dry are our favourite days. We also explore an abandoned hotel which was pretty eerie. Shout out to our amazing Patrons for making these videos possible. This video was a blast to make for everyone.

This is how youth should live their lives, free, friendly, and doing whatever they damn well feeling like doing. I went to sea at 17, US Navy Vietnam War. The Sea is the Mother of us all. Beauty, freedom, youth, and strength, living on the edge, danger and adventure everywhere. You have the courage to live as you choose and I admire you. Smooth Sailing....USA

The Caribbean species of lobster is called Longuista: Long-goo-sta. They are covered with spikes, unlike New England lobster, so it is a good idea to snorkle with gloves if you are looking for dinner!

Oh Riley and Elayna! Watching this has been both bittersweet and hopeful! You see, after years of watching you two, today I finished my second lesson in Keelboat (all day lessons), only it was in 26 ft Colgates in SF bay with high winds and currents. I'm so knackered I couldn't eat one of those lobsters. I think the experience of practicing figure eights in this atmosphere was much more like getting through the Gibe straights than watching dolphins off your bow as I dream! Next weekend I have two days of Keelboat 2 also in Colgates, and then on the the Cruisers after that. At least a mate told me that if I could learn to sail here, then I'll be all good sailing in paradise. Sailing lessons will keep me from catching you in Miami, but my dream of catching that ultimate Marlin, the ol F9, is still a dream. Thanks and much love!

Eerie is one way to put it, But that feeling goes deeper the mind only comprehends bits & pieces of what it looked like an you may have picked up the horror of death from that storm. With all them games that people used to play in a happier time brings out that eerie feeling.. I'm not a doctor but I did sleep at a Holiday inn last night..

When I was a teacher the local police used to give talks on safety. One lesson that came up repeatedly was to “always listen to your gut. If you get that funny feeling that something isn’t right, follow your gut and leave.” When I was in high school, I was in a folk group and we used to sing your opening song,500 Miles! Haven’t heard that nice song for many years.(1960’s, Peter Paul& Mary) Thanks for the memories! Stay safe and enjoy the lobster!

Hi guys. One of u newer patreo/subs here. I have now looked at all of u videos from start up to this one and I just love u. U are such an inspiration, lovely people good looking and just awesome and amazing couple. It has been a great few weeks following u from the start and see u grow and develop in both sailing and video making. U skills has grown so much and are now super good. I just wish I had done something like this with my life, instead of just work work work for nothing.... Now I'm to old and broke to do anything... But I will survive and move out of my country (sweden) and retire in Thailand some day. U videos make me so happy when I watch them, make me feel that there is still hope to change u life. Looking forward to follow u trip as it go forward. It's awesome how many nice places there is in this world and how many kind people there is. Thank u for sharing u life with us. Have only recently found your amazing video story on You Tube. What an superb inspirational family you are. The videos are excellent and technically very professional. I have also sailed around the world and lived most of my life on a boat, in one form or another. Varying from submarines for 30 years to Robert Maxwells coastal boat in the UK. Have you ever considered doing some northern hemisphere sailing.....north Europe, Scandinavia or ideally the UK? I am in my mid 70’s and feel that your videos have given me something to really look forward to. Keep up the great work of showing everyone that young people can live their dreams and without perhaps even realising it, make us believe that with love, and determination anything is possible. You have made an old man very happy and perhaps a trifle envious. John

Great episode guys! Elayna, that guy flying the paramotor crosses one leg over in a procedure called "weight shifting" so he can make directional changes without soley pulling the brake lines on either side. It's safer, more efficient, and more fun. Loved Riley catching the marlin. Fair winds!

Brilliant episode! You guys are awesome for helping out the folks of Barbuda. Just so you know, crossing your legs while flying a paramotor is actually a way to initiate a turn called weight shifting. It lets you free up your hands to take pictures, relax, or simply pull less control input with your arms.

Great episode! Bit of a tip for Riley that could save a lot of time! When cleaning the lobster instead of doing it with a knife it is easy to grab the head in one hand in the tail in another and twist in opposite directions and pull the tail out, then you can clean out the digestive line. Cant wait for the next video!

Thanks for posting this episode. I've been in the Caribbean many times and was heart sick over the devastation to some of my favorite islands. But the story you are telling about Barbuda is at once beautiful (the people's resiliency) and sickening (those viewing it as a chance to take advantage...re De Nero). And catch and release was great too.
