@atroposV5 ай бұрын
literally. when metallica does it it dont sound right but KL just makes it feel like a kickball is taking my head off
@surreal49724 ай бұрын
@@atroposVThat’s for a few reasons. 1, the snare in St Anger has no “roughness” to it. It’s just a pang and a ring, because Lars actually turned off the snare wires. 2, the ring is uncontrolled and WAY too loud+reverbed in the mix, resulting in it becoming ear-piercing. 3, the mix of the album overall makes the snare clip into other instruments and makes it sound piddly half the time. The snare on this album, however, is actually on, is the perfect volume, and fits RIGHT into the awesome mix. While it sounds somewhat similar to the St Anger snare on paper, it’s completely different in practice.

I hope Brad explores their earlier discography as well. Laugh Tracks is a great album of similar length with some killer tracks. Their EP pop culture is where you can hear the hardcore undertones though out their whole discovery really shine. Albeit low quality production I think the tracks are worth listening to! “The blue album” or A different shade of blue is where they started to diverge more into what they sound like today. However this album I feel is a bit mixed, it feels dragged out and too long and I personally find it to be their weakest release. They’ve since PERFECTED the sound from this album into what they are today
@flyingsauce1015 ай бұрын
A Tear in The Fabric of Life is also an absolute masterpiece and definitely a more refined version of the sound on the blue album.

Lets not forget the 3 songs from the split ep. Savage af. They dont have a bad release. I agree different shade is their weakest in a way, but it still has insane tracks like belleville, trapped in the grasp of a memory, serpents touch, and guided by the moon. It's hardly a weak release and more that their discography is essentially flawless
