Sri Lankans learn a lot of practical things from a very young age because their parents usually do almost everything themselves, instead of hiring professionals, so the kids learn from them. I am not sure if kids in Sri Lankan cities know a lot of practical things these days but especially if you grew up in a village, you tend to know how to do a lot of stuff yourself. I am a girl born in the 90s (I spent a good part of my childhood in a Sri Lankan suburb before moving to England), and I know every single thing Lahiru was doing because I have seen those things being done at our house in Sri Lanka. I grew up in Sri Lanka and England, so I know about both countries, and the difference is stark - I understand why you are so amazed haha. Lahiru knows a lot more practical stuff than the average Sri Lankan though, and he doesn't just have the knowledge, he has the skills too - you're lucky! (I found it so funny how Lahiru was focused, working away building a house, and making it look easy, while you messed up the littlest thing - the coffee lmao.) Good luck, guys. Just wanna request something.. whenever you are working with cement, please make sure that you ALWAYS wear boots or atleast slippers cause if not you're gonna regret.. the cement is very bad for naked skin and it will cause rashes and wounds
