Funny enough, my roommate and I were just talking about Knoebels the other day. XD Anyway, I absolutely adore Knoebels. I've been going there since I first learned how to walk. It may not be big and fancy like Hershey or Six Flags, but I love it regardless. It's so charming, and holds so many great memories for me. I'm so glad it's been getting more attention lately, because it's such a cute little park. I haven't been there in a couple of years, but I hope to go back soon.

I’m proud to have grown up here. Even though I am a Orlando local, you’ll always find me hyping knoebels to everyone. I’m 32 & can honestly say I’ve spent a quarter of my life here....my daughter is almost 7 and misses her mommy and me Monday night at the park. I’m full of knowledge and trivia about the park if anyone ever wants to discuss or ask questions :)

A great example of a old-style free admission park. It also has free parking, and you can bring your own food in and picnic there. You can pay per ride, which means that you can go there for a couple of hours, ride a couple of coasters, eat a non-franchise lunch, and not spend more than $20. This is the way amusement parks used to be until corporations and their investors took over and charged expensive admission, plus parking, plus lousy corporate food. What Knoebels proves is that family parks can still be successful without emptying visitors' wallets for a one-day trip. It also means everyone can enjoy being there, even those who might not be able or want to ride much-grandparents, pregnant women, disabled, small children, etc. For me, that makes a real family park. I don't live near it, but whenever I'm driving in the area, I can stop in for a hour or two and enjoy a break. Try that at any Six Flags.
@SeekerLancer5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Knoebels is a big part of the local community so they don't want to discourage people from coming by charging for parking or admission. Lots of people, especially seniors, just come in for the food, games and shows. They'd loose that business and the goodwill of the community if they ever changed that. They also like the family atmosphere it creates, you can bring grandma along without having to worry about paying $70 for a person that doesn't even want to ride the rides.

great video but failed too mention a few things. 1. the Phoenix originally stood in texas at a Defunct Park called Playland and was originally called The Rocket. in early 1985 Knoebels bought the coaster, dismantled it and used 34 semi truck to bring it to Pennsylvania. It was the 1st modern wooden rollercoaster relocation. Since being resurrected as the Phoenix, it has remained a top 10 wooden coaster since beginning operation at Knoebels. 2. Twister, although not a relocation, it is based on the Defunct Mr. twister from Elitch garden in Denver Colorado. The layout is modified to fit int he space it sits, doing caused it to have the lift hill folded onto itself, so that means 1st part of the lift sits directly underneath 2nd part. Twister was designed and built entirely in-house by knoebels head of Maintence and Rides John Fetterman... who also designed the new Flying Turns which was also built in house. And original bolt from the defunct Mr. Twister holds together a support frame beam on the new Twister and was installed at the official 2 train operation opening in October 1999. Coaster Force and Theme Park Review have excellent pOV vids of this coaster and the original. 3. One thing not mentioned about High Speed Thrill Coaster is that the ride operator controlled the speed of the ride as the chain lift was driven by a 200hp 4cyl engine powered by Propane. The lift hill gear box was also a throttle.

Thank you. Unfortunately, not everything can be mentioned, else the video would be extremely long! As you can imagine, reading the comment you wrote would add a lot of detail to specific rides, skewing the average amount of detail present throughout the video. I also have to make a judgement as to what I think is useful information, and what is niche information. Unfortunately, both 1 and 2 fell under the second category. I apologise for this.

Looper is the best ride & they need to put that ride in more parks. Also, I feel like you should have talked about how this place constantly floods but they've never moved the park & they just clean it up and move on. Like how thooooo?
@SeekerLancer6 жыл бұрын
An insane amount of public support and volunteers is how they do it. The way they run the park with free admission means it's adored by the locals who want to see the park back in operation as soon as possible. They usually get things at least 85% up and running again in a week after a major flood event. They've gotten pretty good at preparing for it too and while people often complain about how the park has gravel instead of proper paths, gravel is cheap and fast to replace while repaving would be expensive and take a while.
