Vita Sackville-West was denied ownership of Knole because of her gender but she went on to restore the ruin of Sissinghurst - creating a beautiful garden and leaving a historical monument for the English people.

interesting to see the portrait of Violet Trefusis in there. I don't think either got over the other.

Harold’s last name is Nicolson, not Nicholson. Also the speed and the inexplicable choice of the loud music took something away from this presentation.Less is more.

Never forget. These folk were born with silver spoons embedded in every orifice. They enjoyed the luxury of being able to indulge their 'artistic' whims, while 99% of their compatriots didn't. This is not to say they were not talented or 'nice' people. They were 'thinkers'. Bless'em. They relished in a skin-deep Socialism, like Maynard Keynes. Vita was a far better gardener than writer. Just like the Royal Family, they are an ornament to our English 'civilization'. Little more. Beware of romanticizing them!

Awww Andrew, you just ruined my day. Too much pragmatism.

What a nasty image to put in people’s’ minds. Vita never had anything to do with Maynard Keynes. What she created as a “gardener” is one of the most extensive and beautiful field of flowers and trees. Were the Roman gardens useless? or Kew Gardens for that matter. It’s an ancient art. And the Bloomsbury circle were poor, and had to work day in and day out, you should read a bit about Virginia Woolf.
