I'm from Austria & Linzer Torte is fron the city Linz in Austria. U have done an amazing job in decorating u Torte . We use the extra dough & make long strips to create a grid or lattice. In Austria u can buy the very finely chopped nuts. U series is amazing. Great job.

Hi Megan, I am loving the new pie season! As Andrew is in South Africa, why not make a traditional SA desert "pie" (we call it a tart). Peppermint Crisp Tart - sweet, smooth and super easy. You will find a plethora of recipes online! Happy pie making, with love from Calitzdorp, South Africa!

My mom makes Linzer Torte every Christmas. She uses my great great grandfather's nut grinder to make it. The recipe is from my great grandma who was from Hungary/Slovakia. Mom puts a lattice work on top of our Torte and does different jams so it looks like stained glass. One of my favorite deserts. Yours looks beautiful and delicious!

I was looking forward to September Pies so much that the last three days of August I woke thinking it was September first. And September Pies has not disappointed! My first job in high school was washing dishes for a bakery, they made linzer torte, using an industrial grade giant tin of raspberry jam. When we opened a new one, we'd slather it on fresh croissants. When fresh warm linzer torte was made, one was always sacrificed for quality control, with ice cream from the corner store. lol! Best job ever.

So you can elevate this recipe with some kirsch schnapps and lemon zest in the dough and by creating a lattice for the top. I also prefer a base that is almost solely made out of nuts. My grandmother actually taught me to make this pie well in advance and store it outside in a tin box wrapped in wax paper with a slice of fresh apple. The pie will stay good for up to 6 weeks and it's flavour just gets better the longer it sits....moister and richer. It's a Christmas favorite at our house and I usually make a few to share with friends and family.

It's great seeing you bake some great pies. Here is a pie recipe for you. Bean Pie (The Forgotten Taste) Sis. Tunurah Abdul Khabir for: Tunurah’s Favorite Halal Recipe Ingredients 1 ½ cups cooked pureed Great Northern* White Beans 1 cup light brown sugar ½ cup white sugar 5 eggs, slightly beaten 1 stick butter - softened 2 tablespoons cornstarch 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1 tea-spoon vanilla 1 can (12-oz.) Carnation Evaporated Milk Cinnamon Optional: yellow food coloring 2 9” uncooked pie crust THIS IS WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS 1) Beat eggs, both sugars, and butter with an electric mixer until fluffy. 2) Add cornstarch. 3) Add beans, mix together. Note: Using a Foley’s colander ( food mill ) will produce more of a custard-like bean filling 4) Add 1 can of Carnation Evaporated Milk and beat together using a mixer 5) Add lemon juice and vanilla. Blend in. (If using food coloring add it now)** 6) Pour filling in pie shells 7) Sprinkle cinnamon over filling until covered 8) Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes or until golden brown Enjoy the recipe

I’m definitely going to give this one a try. I usually make Linzer torte cookies at Christmas, but it never crossed my mind to make it in a tart instead. On a separate note, since you enjoy baking so much and have such a large family, have you considered an Ankarsrum stand mixer? They hold a large quantity, and they are very heavy duty. I think they’re from Sweden. Anyway, I think you should reach out to the company and maybe do a collaboration with them. You would be the perfect fit to promote their product.
