Our teenaged homeschooled son Elijah traveled to Japan by himself for an exchange program. We all missed him dearly and were so happy to have him return! After he got home we had to start work on weighing our luggage and making sure we didn't have too much stuff to take on the plane with us.
Follow Elijah's channel and see his vlogs from Japan:

Megan I know how you feel. Our daughter is starting her 4th and last year of college in the fall. It's hard letting them go, but it's awesome watching them grow, mentality, physically, emotionally and most of all spiritually! It's one of the scariest yet best feelings ever. She will ALWAYS be our baby girl, even when she is married with babies of her own!

Know that feeling well. When my eldest daughter got home from a missions trip to Romania I wanted to jump and cry and hug her, but she just looked at me like I was nuts, so I held it in until I got home and then had a good cry. I realized that I had not had a true deep breath the whole time she was gone.

Great to see Big Brother back from Japan. He is looking well and it is great that you as parents gave him this wonderful chance. Megan there comes a time in life when all our baby birds have to fly from the nest. Do not worry most kids are reliable and can stand on their own two feet. Poor Mike looks utterly exhausted. All the best for the flight to Paris. Hopefully, you were able to sort out the broken van window story. Trust you are insured. Please beware if pickpockets in France - they are more than professional. Suggest you separate things. Especially money. Give some to the older kids to carry in case. God bless and be with you all. Much love from Zurich - CH.

When the kids are shocked their next place won't have aircon and as a Brit you know most houses to rent in Europe don't have it! France is beautiful, look for Supermaches for super markets and avoid shopping around lunch time and on Sundays, a lot of rural France and some city France will be closed! It's a very laid back country :) Find a boulangerie for amazing pastries. Most boulangeries seem to make the best breakfast pastry imaginable. Great for bread as well. Steak hache is essentially a burger in case any of the younger ones are being fussy. Look for local festivals and markets and visit some French churches and castles, they have some beautiful architecture! Rocamadour is a great one, it's built into the side of a mountain and the views are incredible. I could keep going! You'd never guess where I go on holiday most years!
