Watched it in its original run & Dallas which it spun off from. Thursday & Friday nights were the best. Then there was Dynasty on Wednesday & then Falcon Crest after Dallas. I watched them all. I’m 59 now. They were awesome shows. Great memories.

Its amazing, during the "Knots Landing" Reunion someone said that "Dallas" was supposed to be "Knots Landing" but CBS said "Knots Landing" wasn't glamorous enough so they came up with Dallas and Knots Landing had to be the Spin off!

Yes, a similar thing happened with a UK Soap Opera Emmerdale, that debuted in 1972 they were supposed to broadcast only 26 Episodes but it was so popular that it is now the Second Longest Running UK Soap (Coronation Street is the longest debuting on December 9 1960). They were smart to do Knots Landing because they wanted to show that life in a Suburban Town isn't as cool calm and collected as we all like to think. I guess we can learn that in Show Business Never Say Never.

David Jacobs the creator of Knots Landing and Dallas first pitched Knots Landing then was told it was not glamorous enough for what CBS was looking for so he created Dallas then spun off Knots Landing.
