I bought that same 10oz Engelhard bar in 2012 from a jewelry store for $310 when silver was $31. I thought I stole it, lol. Still have it. I went back and forth with high premium metal and as cheap as I can get metal for a long time. It made sense to get higher premium when the metal was cheap and trading sideways for a long time, getting into numismatics and whatnot. Eventually I created 2 stacks to make sense of it all. I hope to eventually trade the low premium stuff based on the GSR when it makes sense.

What's up? I'm Polish so we have 23% tax on silver bars but no tax for silver coins (treated as foreign currency). So I stack mostly 1 oz coins. Greetings.

@@JFEnterprize Well I'm not that wealthy to buy big bars so I'm ok with 1 oz. I stack them for time when currency collapse, hiper currency printing, to buy some food from farmers. Main reason I keep stacking silver. Any way prices for gold, silver (1 oz) aren't worster than in Germany, France but ppl earn less in Poland. Greetings.

I frequent a particular eBay Live seller who auctions vintage silver bars regularly. It's hard for me to justify the premium on them, though some do make me wax nostalgic. Like the 1973 Nixon-Mao Peace bar I picked up last night. I guess no one else realized the significance or that it was Richard Milhouse Nixon on the bar, so I basically stole it. I'm a sucker for anything having to do with Tricky Dick!

The Engelhard bar on ebay was more expensive than the one you picked up because it was a pour bar, the one you picked up isn't.

@@SmartSilverStacker- I just noticed because when I first got into Engelhard bars, I was buying the poured bars (specifically, the wafflebacks) and I had bought some of the extruded bars that were made to look like the pour bars without realizing it until I looked closer after I got home. The extruded bars have sharp edges on the bottom.

Nope. Youll get killed on all those premiums for each bar. The commonly agreed upon, as best I can tell, see and hear, is 100oz bars. One premium, and a manageable size when it comes time to sell.

I like the vintage stuff. I believe asahi around thanksgiving came out with new made JM bars? Anyone else notice this? Sdbullion had them I believe. 100oz bars. Unless they just awaited a minty fresh unoxidized collection. 🤷‍♂️
