The best way to avoid getting right hooked at an intersection is to take the lane. If there is no car on your right that can turn right, you can't get hooked. Anticipate what a driver is likely to do that will place you in danger, and act so as to prevent that driver from doing that, or if that's not possible, take action to get clear of where that driver is probably going. You cannot get hit if you're not in the place where a driver is trying to go.

Change the infrastructure of all North American cities to make it more bike friendly starting with bike infrastructure, paths, buses, etc.

The real solution isn't separate lanes or paths for different conveyance types, but separate lanes or paths for whatever type of conveyance that is traveling in a certain speed range. Vehicles traveling at the same speed, or close to it, rarely crash into each other.

I treat every other occupant of the road as if he or she is blind, drunk, stupid, or hateful toward others. While this tends to keep me safe, it's a shame to have to take such an attitude just to survive. What we need is awareness education, for everyone who uses the roads. I live in a midwestern city of nearly a 1/4 million people, and I mostly avoid riding in the city proper, preferring the relatively vacant country lanes within a mile or so of my house. Drivers out there are nearly always courteous, with the most common issue being overtaking across double yellow lines.

I found out what the perfect murder is: your weapen needs to be a car. The police is always referring to the crime as an "accident" and so will the opposing lawyers and judges - if it even gets to court. I survived but the attack happened to me.

I enjoy watching the Mayday series because they don't accept the easy answers. In most cases it's not just a pilots error or a mechanics error or a tanker error. Who trained them? With which simulator? Who recieved the manufacturer's notice and what did they do about it? It would be nice if all crashes were investigated in the same way and with consequences for the ongoing laws and processes.

Whenever a car occupant gets injured or killed I want to hear the question asked "Did he/she wear a helmet?"

When you are riding straight and a car driver from the opposite side wants to turn left you shouldn't slow down because you have the right of way. We have law and order. That's how things are supposed to work. Slowing down means less efficient traffic flow and even danger to the vehicles behind you.

Driver attitude and misinformation is at an all time worst level. Been tracking since 2012 and it had been getting better. Poor driver ed testing is huge. Poor police enforcement, worse yet is majistrate attitude. I had a case tossed where a guy came within 6” of me and then stopped in the lane in rush hour to get out and yell at me. For stopping traffic of all things. Judge threw it out because he claimed my yelling hey was incitement. All on camera. Averaging 3 times of this per year including one who pulled me off the bike when I tried to get away. The more rural the worse it gets. Cell phone distracted is a majority but the key demographic in Lancaster pa is large pickup trucks and contractors, delivery trucks are barely a thing. School busses are rising as well. Should be noted, a high number of riders that I observe lack proper lighting from the rear. I ride with more daylight visibility lighting than most cars.

When you want to turn right and then you pull up to the left side of other vehicles on a red light then you are just dumb.

Right hook crashes between car drivers and cyclists are helped by any kind of cycle lane. In the drivers mind those cyclists aren't riding on his street. They don't exist or they must and can stop for any car like pedestrians. Please don't advocate for "cycling infrastructure". The general lanes are wide enough for cyclists.

I agree. The safety offered by bike-lanes is purely theoretical and symbolic, unless there is a barrier (which limits the usefulness of the bike-lane), and the message the presence/absence of bike-lanes sends to other road users is often confusing. There is a perception among non-cyclists that cyclists can only be on the road within the context of a bike-lane.

Guess what? A cyclist is riding a vehicle! And they are also part of the traffic.
