My brother went to a private school and had to take Latin. Because of his workload, Mom had me help him and provided us with the Oxford Unabridged Latin Dictionary. Yeah, we had fun looking up all the impolite words and conjugating the verbs, even translating dirty jokes. One day, Jim had a very difficult science midterm come up and was studying hard for it. Mom, thinking she was helping, told me to do his Latin homework. Since I also had midterm tests to study for (as if public school grades weren't equally as important to my life plans), I resented that greatly. So I wrote a 3 page filthy short story for him to turn in, figuring he'd never look a it. he didn't and the Latin Master was not pleased when Jim fessed up. Cheating could have gotten him expelled, so the instructor cut him a break since he was at least somewhat impressed by my creativity. He wrote me a note in Latin praising my command of Latin but admonished me to not do my brother's work in the future. I still have that letter.

I know a lot of the videos are just edited in such a way as to showcase the worse of the worse but it's troubling to see how little some people know. These kids are doomed. I can not totally lay the blame at the feet of the teachers, our schools are extremely under funded, our curriculums have been geared less about learning how to think and more about passing standardized tests, and in the last two years it has become another political pawn with no thought about the actual children. Still as a parent you are responsible for preparing your children for the world, not the world being prepared for them. It scares me that there are both children and adults that wouldn't know how to function if they lost their phones.
