@@chrismaccandless6726 for gold recovery, especially in ewaste, yes you will need alot. But if your a micro scrapper and a hoarder, and you get enough pick ups of ewaste. It builds up quickly.

You didn't show any board that would be considered mid grade boards like back panels, or hard drives, and are you saying to put server boards together with motherboards, why? Also is there a price difference between red,blue and green motherboards?

We find that the CPU Processor and memory chips are the most valuable for scrap. Hope this helps!

That would be irony aluminum. And it would take a crap load to make money with but if your depopulating the whole board then sure save everything. It all adds up.

I always see The Shears of Life being auctioned off by Fire Departments, who are upgrading equipment. Way cool second use for them, and loads cheaper than going throw sawzall blades or torch fuel.

The blue boards will typically be a lower price than green ones, but you will have to check with your local yard or e-scrap buyer.

that little aluminum heatsink you pulled off the board is extruded aluminum not sheet. every scrap yard n Virginia buy's them as that, also they are made with 6061 and 6063 aluminum nothing other they are a high quality aluminum because it helps cools the chips better

+Perry Seay I throw in w/ the Nice milled Alum Hard drive cases. Those canister style capacitors are Alum cased too Scrape em off ! Bu the time I'm done w/ a board it's worth the 10 cents lb they pay you for them.

I have always found it does not matter at the scrap yards around here. Aluminum no matter what it is is just one price. It could be sheet, extruded etc. No point in even separating it.

I found something like a hard drive in a playstation 3 i can tell it has magnets in it for now im leaving it in its cage untill i know better what to do ! Any advice im an expierianced scrapper but this is a new road im going down!

Hard drives have high quality magnets in them. Look up hard drive scrapping

what if I break the board when I'm taking the Aluminum or other things off? Does the yard buy broken boards?

Good question, you would have to check with you yard. Some yards will buy broken boards at a certain price (may be lower than normal) and others may just buy it as is.

There are morons born every minute who'll buy. it takes ONLY 10 (depending on how old the computer is) computers to get 2 grams of 24k (you have to refine it- it's 10k gold plate 8k on new stuff) gold It's EASY TO DO. CHEAP if you have a little time and knowledge. A little knowledge is dangerous in right hands.

+dadrules714 i live way down south Texas and i have all the pc repair guys in 5 towns and 11 pc repair guys today was the first time i got a call since a few days i called them all they gave me 5 old dells and 2 screens they all are password protected so at first i thought i could use one as my trouble shoot pc... so got my old computer out of the closet thank god its a dell too so will work with most of the parts or all. with the oil prices sitting at low 30s my hours have dropped as a operator so i bought a smelter and first i thought call every pc guy i know and plumber and electrician i know and ask for scrap and i guess because of the low prices on metals people just threw everything away i can give you some details of what just one wifi company gave me in old cable enough where i had to cut the cable and come back a second trip in my truck. i now have a few hundred pounds of copper stripped.... bought a electric stripper used a blade already on second one. So pretty much i was just going to play with some a pound of copper or two.... became i filled my shed with every container i have with bare bright and number 2 copper and lots of brass. So cheers i will have enough materials to last me for a long long long time lol. i may in months time after i figure out if my ag teacher buddy has his kids making me a big smelter now because this 2 pound at a time wont do :)

+Maxspeed7 Take it off sell on EBay for triple or process it yourself. It's easy cheap. I get computers for free ! a Sign in yard. They charge $10 per pc. Computer monitor key board= $30 to take em away here. People drop em off. What's better than GOLD ? Free gold !

those crucial ballistix ram modules that you ripped the heatsinks off of are worth a lot on the used market. Could have sold them as working units on ebay and gotten way more money. What a waste

For sure I could send you a complete breakdown of what types of computers and their parts are worth reselling and will make you way more money than scrap value. When I find computers I generally sort them into 3 categories. My first general category is retro and vintage computers; this includes computers from the mid 90s and earlier. This category consists of IBM PCs and clones based on the 8088, 286, 386, 486, pentium and pentium pro chips as well as Macintoshes and home computers such as Commodore 64 from the time period. The majority of these systems and their components are very sought after by collectors and can fetch good money on places such as Ebay. The second category includes modern computers capable of running Windows 7 or newer. These systems feature modern CPUs such as Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad and Core i3/i5/i7 and are therefore easier to sell on the used market quickly. The third category would be systems that are not worth selling whole since they are too old to be useful but too new to be worth anything to collectors. These systems date from the 2000s and feature mainly Pentium 4 and Pentium D processors and are pretty much everywhere. My recommendation would be to take these systems apart and save only the parts that were high end when they were new such as Extreme Edition CPUs, Asus and Gigabyte overclocking capable motherboards, Cases with transparent panels, decorative lighting or other cool features, WD Raptor hard drives, RAM with heatsinks on it such as the Ballistix you scrapped in this video, High wattage power supplies. As for the boring and common prebuilt Dell and HP and Lenovo Pentium 4/D systems that come out of offices and homes everywhere those are almost always not worth reselling. If you want any more specific information on what computer parts are worth looking out for do not hesitate to let me know. We would suggest selling as scrap. To process the gold would take a lot of effort and it would be difficult to find the right yard to buy (if any would be willing to).
