People should pay close attention to We are E, an Algerian sample, gives some idea of the exquisite and broad referencing of availble music by Lennie and those embarked on the voyage into new music. Those early pressings were around in 86 I believe, I think mine was bought in Music Power or Body Music, it's hard to be sure but it was a game changer.
@NextSound17018 күн бұрын
This is it, these guys sourced music not copying the next “big” thing unlike today, all wanna sound like Ulterior Motive, Noisa and Photek
@LondonSoundSystem17 күн бұрын
@@NextSound170 well said, ghost writing, even in dance music now, driven more by social media nous than any honest passion, competence or enjoyment of the shyared experience, more the desire to pontificate from above and feel superior whilst acheiving in an environent of decaying standards and low barriers to entry. .

Horizon, JFM(Jackie) & LWR etc were run in a serious fashion and played different music show by show. What people need to think of is that each one of these dj's is striving for exellance against a backdrop of friendly competitiion and the desire to impress and animate their audience, the genres were different, side by side and that led to cross polination in the experimentation that was going on, the hybrid sounds, electro flowing into hip hop, then flowing into jacking house, vast attempts to get a rise from the people and find that sweet sound, it was passion personified on the perfect sounds. It was that typical urban uk melding of a love of electronics and superlative sound systems, enjoyed here and by the incoming Windrush generation that led to audacious events like Carnival and pirate radio, the platform to inform and expand the musical and emmotional base of a lot of people. I remember that here in London we were editing the soul and jazz funk tracks to play on the big bass sound systems, Rita Write, Touch me Take me got the re-edit, it was already heavy and needed some speaker array to convey the sonics properly. There is so much that is hardly known and never said, some really unusual happenings and quirky occurences, that always seem to exist as things begin. The Jungle explosion and then Garage had the city keyed into music, celebration and exaltation. in 2010-2012 the clubs were still pumping but things are resting now.
