The videos are so crisp and clear that anybody would understand DBMS just by gazing at them. It would be so very generous of you if you please suggest some books or online pdfs to practice problems based on the topics present in this as well as other lectures of ours, specially the normalization and relational algebra part. Thanks and Congrats in advance for the awesome work.

Hello everyone, what is the correct procedure of finding redundancy on the LHS??? Actually in present and next video sir has taken different steps, in this video: while checking if there's any redundancy on LHS at 11:35, sir has ignored one functional dependency which was "wz=>y"... But in the next video in the same method(video name 3.9 practise questions..), at 19:45, sir has not ignored "vw=>x". And if we do not ignore "vw=>x", we get a different result.. What is the correct way!!!

I have a doubt. When I am checking ""is Z redundant in WZ->Y ?"" then why we are hiding "WZ->Y" completely. Rather what we should do, is to HIDE ONLY Z i.e. keeping "W->Y" Because if Z is redundant in WZ->Y , then resulting FD will be W->Y.

There is a set of functional dependency F={A->C,AC->D.E->AD,E->H}. In the functional dependency AC->D, is C redundant?
@anshgyl7 жыл бұрын
Yes C is redundant as "A --> C" & "AC --> D" hence we can simply say "A --> CD" But this statement would be valid in only this case as all the closures would remain the same even after this modification.

sir, in the last step(in simplifying LHS), that particular (wz-y in given example) should be hidden or not while computing (wz-z)+ or (wz-w)+. It is more confusing. In some places(other's solutions) it is not hidden ans sir you have advised to hide it. Please clear the doubt. I will be highly obliged to you for it.
