I think the tolerances from the factory are very tight with the pins on the tiny countermilling, I think the lock is subject to wear, once it's been opened a few times the lock loosens up considerably so I guess the wear is probably on the spool lips, great gutting it does explain a great deal 👌👍

I was not getting the same reading everywhere I put the calipers, but ~6-26% less gap for the sheerline compared to the Master. I wonder if the slightly larger holes in the plug were intended to help get the drivers caught on the ledge or if uts coincidence. The ledge is tiny, but sharp. The bible is a slightly different color than the plug and pins. Maybe the plug and pins are brass and the bible is bronze and that could wear down the spools over use. I think props to Brinks and Sandman for giving us a surprise. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the gutting vid! I was really confused as to why it was resisting counter-rotation, this makes it make perfect sense now.

Thanks, glad it helped!

Loved the gutting and examination! I will have to give this lock a go.

For sure, I'd say its worth it.

Thanks for the gutting!! I love to see what is happening inside of the locks. Good luck 🍀

Thank you! I thought this one deserved to get opened with all the trouble it gave. I know I was not the fastest time, but a fun challenge.

Thank you for this tear down, this has eased my frustration a bit. I picked this locked in under a min fresh out of the pack, but after that, I can barely pick and I thought I was doing something wrong. Since I'm a beginner I got completely discouraged, but now I see I was reaching above my level without even knowing it. Now I don't feel bad and I'm going to keep practicing

The first time I picked a Medeco was raking and then I did not pick one again for about a year. Sometimes we get lucky first try and don't realize how lucky. It's also a good argument for picking multiple locks from a brand before we "grade" them. Not sure where your are at, but I would get comfortable with 4-5 standard pins, then a lock with 1-2 security pins, and then this should be less intimidating, but it is still going to be harder. You can do it. Like you said, don't feel bad, keep practicing.

Great job! Thank you for competing. I put your time down on the leader boards for 3.26. Thank you for gutting this lock. It confirms my suspicions on what was inside and the best method for picking it.

Thank you! I felt like I picked it quick, but then looked at the clock and realized time flew. I knew at least one person was faster. Very neat lock your found here, good challenge!

Great job, well I guess great minds think alike, I have also gutted one of these as well, but you are ahead of me in getting the video made, and yes I can confirm that mine looks excatly the same, I will get a video out in a few days, thanks for sharing
@knowthebird7 ай бұрын
Thanks for confirming. Its is good to see more than one gutting video. Sample size of one is not ideal for info. I will keep an eye out for it. Thanks for watching!

I love the "need to know" section of your brain, and the fact you share it with us.
@knowthebird7 ай бұрын
The fact it's better and cheap interests me. I know there are expensive lock designs out there people can buy for high security, but sometimes people just want to know, whats the best cheap thing I can get locally. After seeing this lock I'd say generally speaking its going to be the best option after a Kwikset SmartKey or a disc detainer. Thanks for watching!

Great job picking on that!! Very nice! This is a fun lock to pick! Very different from what you would think it would be! Very cool showing of the milling in the bible! I'm honestly surprised brinks did that! Nice job on their part and nice job showing this! Thank you! I noticed this picking it as well!

Thank you! I was really surprised to see milling on a ~$10 lock too, but props to Brinks for doing it. It deffintely ups the ante on walmart padlocks.

Thanks for tearing that apart for us! Four pins in a $50 lock...? That's criminal.
@knowthebird7 ай бұрын
Oh the $50 is what you can win from Sandman. The lock is about $10 from Walmart. Thanks for watching!
