Imho, people are a bit unfair to Bill Nye. Although he's not of the caliber of Sir Isaac Newton, he is most probably the reason why some people are into science -not Newton. Should be teachers able to create he content they're teaching? No, that's not their job. Their job is to understand the content and explain it to us, which is not an easy task! That's what Nye is- a propagator, not an innovator. Disrespecting this, is like disrespecting a car mechanic for not having invented the techology used in your car, when you only need him to do a good job fixing it!

“I accelerated the mind of mankind to a higher plane of understanding and I can calculate the weight and the size and the shape of the shadow of the mind you're standing in." When Carl Sagan was explaining higher planes of existence to laymen, he used his famous "Flatlanders" story to get the point across. He held a cube in front of a light so that it cast a shadow. As he rotated the cube in various positions, it's shape remained a cube but the shadow it cast changed. This showed that trying to calculate the weight and the size and the shape of an object in a higher plane just from its SHADOW is impossible. So Newton is bragging that he can do the impossible through an apparent veiled reference to that Flatlanders story. Not only is it an amazing line, but it once again showcases the brilliant minds behind ERB.” -Casey Locke

Another great breakdown as always Knox. However, I would like to rebut a point, a small one. While I appreciate Sir Isaac Newton, due to his genius (as well as level of insanity from mercury) I would think that his grading standards would be far higher than normal (higher plane of understanding, wouldn't pass in one of my classrooms). While Bill Nye has a low hanging fruit of a degree, he understood the need for more scientists, but the problem was and still is that science, at a certain age, can be insanely complex and very boring. His PBS show was aimed to get kids interested and hooked into the field of science while battling the ignorance of creationists. His debate with Ken Ham was especially illuminating, because whenever Ken Ham couldn't answer a question, instead of admitting he didn't know something he would chalk it up to God. I cannot remember the number of times he said the phrase "There's a Good Book you can read" (the bible), which was infuriating. So I feel that particular bar fell flat because while Isaac was devout in his faith, if memory serves he was adamant in his opposition to the church regarding scientific research.

Sir Isaac Newton was a straight genius for his time Billy boy has a ton more info and didnt make a single step into the physics department sooooo I think we know who wins and who's next

Isaac Newton also stole alot of formulas and etc, also was very-people

In terms of overall Bill Nye has done more to help science along than Isaac

@@jasonrichardson1999 if wasn’t for Newton Bill Nye wouldn’t have much to teach

@@MultiMoo20 if it wasn't for Newton then science might of had more than just one big scientist during his time because he was a plagiarist

You're crazy Knox's 💯 % love the breakdown quality control 😆 "this is the best ERB ever" lol maybe you should do a video break down on them

😆😅🤣 WEIRD AL IS THE God with PARODIES. You should see his work. Or rather watch and listen to his work. One parody we can actually learn some basic to the English language. It's called "Word Crimes" 😆 on more than a few I thought his Parodies (like that one) were an oringal song.

i know im late, but yes "i" is a signature constant for the square root of negative one. what makes that line even better is it was the 'unsolvable question' until Mr. Tyson was actually the one who solved the equation. super physics bars

If you want some beautiful characterization, Jacques Cousteau vs Steve Irwin, or George Carlin vs Richard Pryor. If you want bars and a half, Lance Armstrong vs Babe Ruth

The needle in the eye bar comes from stories that Newton tried to artificially change the shape of his eyeball using a needle to study the effects of refraction

Okay, I have watched a few of your ERB reactions. Got to this one and wondered---might he be the first one I see react to this video that will actually GET the whole "i" reference. The math major in me is elated beyond belief that you knew what i was, even just saying its value of square root of negative one - nicely done.

The line about the size and the weight of the shadow of the mind..... I'm not 100% on this, but I know there are trigonometric things you can do to find the size of an object based on the shadow it casts, its handy for measuring the height of trees or buildings n stuff, so I assume newton worked on some of that. Also, yes something that is infinite can still expand, I'm not sure about the application in physics and the universe, but from a purely mathematical standpoint sure because there are different degrees of infinity.

I do love the irony of Weird Al dissing Bill Nye about wacky sound effects, that's a little one that not many people seem to call out

The Harry Potter business line is because when Newton was going crazy he was trying to find the Philosopher's Stone, the McGuffin from the first Harry Potter book (Sorcerer's stone in the States)

I love that you're the first reacter I've seen that recognised Chali 2Na instantly, even before you realised he was playing Tyson. Most reacter, even other rappers either didn't realise at all, or only at the end.
