Sick Boi is phenomenal, and Ren had to put it down recently due to a very ridiculous (and ironic) situation. But he will remake and remaster it, so we will have Sick Boi back better than ever, and we have to thank Ren so much for going through all of this and for battling to keep this song out, because it is so impactful to the fans and just the world. So I watched this reaction as a final watch of this phenomenal piece of art, until we are blessed with the new one.

I have complex chronic illnesses like Ren too - and I’ve had this exact conversation with doctors, aka medical gaslighting, where they dismiss your very real physical symptoms as psychological (due to the trauma response etc.). And he highlights the intense frustration of this gaslighting so perfectly. It leads to delays in diagnosis / treatment / management, and just the mental health impacts of being constantly dismissed and pushed aside by the very people who are supposed to help you get better… this video is SO important for those of us with chronic illness x

In the beginning of the journey of finding out what is wrong or what was wrong is wrong whatever I was told I was making myself sick until I got the right specialists. Doctors literally came in and said well you're 27 and I'm like I'm not here for my age I know when my birthday is tell me what is causing all this pain and I had to ask my GP to break it down foot doctor got doctor back doctor bone doctor hand doctor and asked what the names of those doctors were and if I could get sent to them so sometimes we really have to be proactive because when they don't know the answer they put it in a trash can disease or they try to say it's your brain making you sick because the doctors don't know and so you have to be proactive literally one doctor said to me I don't know what your feet have to do with your back and once I got the cast it insoles for my plantar fasciitis that's the worst of on the freaking poster so much so we laughed about it in the moment of making the cast's I got those suckers and it totally changed my entire ability to stand and walk upright. But I had to ask the doctor to go to a foot doctor for my back pain because he didn't understand that they could be connected so we have to be proactive in our own care . That also includes our diet the box in the bag foods to not help people in chronic the body needs real food that it was made to eat... No doctor told me that I just started being proactive and researching anything that could help and I found Tai Chi by just typing in what helps with arthritic pain because the doctor was like yeah your whole body is going to feel like arthritis all the time... So I went home and Google what do old people do for arthritis pain and I found tai chi Chaun... Changed my daughter's childhood... Yet I still needed my medication or I wouldn't be able to lift a half gallon of milk out of the fridge. So it's a matter of you finding the right medications with your doctors finding the right doctors and the right diet for you and your circumstances and it really really does help.... Chronic pain sufferers know it never goes away all you can do is figure out how to lessen it. Hate to hear of anybody living in chronic pain cuz I know it sucks... Sending Good vibes prayers out into the universe for all of the chronic pain sufferers And isn't Ren such a blessing to us🥰each of us gaining strength or perspective...this is how Ren found me there is a documentary called UNREST gave me great strength from all the ppl in it & Ren hit my heart special cuz he's close to daughter's age. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH20pYyAm7Kgas0 🙏 Namaste🌹

I'm a 42 year old mom of grown kids. My son actually introduced me to Ren. I'm in school studying psychology with the goal of becoming a behavioral therapist for adults with developmental disabilities (I've been a home manager at an agency for this population for over 20 years). Ren's music has made an impact on how i want to approach my future career in therapy. I was touched by his experiences and I believe his songs addressing his treatment will stick with me. It's made me take a deep look at how therapists can come across to patients. I appreciate this look into the system.

On the topic of trauma. I am a foster parent, and I have taken a class on trauma informed care, and it was eye-opening. They have done studies that actually show that trauma changes your body’s DNA in a negative manner. Those that have been through a lot of trauma are now programmed to have a trauma response to most situations. The only way to really break this cycle is to offer actual loving care and get them to trust you in a way they’ve never trusted someone before. Children and foster care are generally put through one traumatic experience after another, and it is very hard to get through to them and build any kind of trust. What Ren speaks about in this song is so very true.
@ratflail215

Thanks for doing that. Foster children are often very badly traumatized and have never felt love before. The sad thing is that often foster parents are just as bad as their biological ones.

#FreeSickBoi For everyone who's wondering, the video got a copyright strike and now his whole album is in danger. Ren and his team are fighting hard to get it back! Here is Rens community post about it: The sickboi video isn't actually just a behind the scenes issue. This is getting out of hand I'm really sorry for everyone who wants to watch the video. This situation is so fucked and runs deeper than I'm even going to say yet. I was sold a beat with a stolen sample which was a fuck up on the producers part but I gave him the benefit of the doubt, producers sample things all the time, so I wasn't massively pressed about it. Partly because of this and partly because of a fuck up on either the publisher or publisher collection society's behalf kujo hasn't received his publishing which I was trying to resolve, even working with kujo on after he and his team removed the song from KZbin as leverage. Now no one ever told me this situation was even happening or that kujo was unhappy which is a fuck up on both kujo and my lawyers behalf (but giving my lawyer the benefit of the doubt i was in brain damage treatment so he probably figured I didn't need the stress) . I was trying to work really fairly with kujo and even willing to take a financial hit myself on something I shouldn't have because of a stolen sample, but the situation has now gotten ridiculously greedy using legal leverage and unfair loopholes. Honor the original contract. I have receipts of our entire conversation in case any of you guys are in any doubt as to what is happening here. I've given the person and company responsible a warning that I'm making this totally public unless they resolve it asap. This could affect the entire sickboi album because of greed. They can do what's right or you guys will loose a big part of something I worked so hard on while going through one of the toughest periods of my life. Even now I want to resolve this amacably but when they're asking for way more than what was originally agreed upon because of legal loopholes it becomes very difficult to keep giving the benefit of the doubt. I really believe in principle and kujo being paid fairley for making the beat which i am chasing (even though its not my department its the publisbers so im going above and beyond here) but honor the original agreement don't start chasing more because the song is sucessful off the back of my own hard work Acrually fuck it, lets make it public, they also pointed out they could legally claim 100% of all royalities on this song over a youtube content ID technicality and loophole in the contract. Sadly the way the legal system is weighted against small artists there may be weight behind this, so not only are they asking for more theyre threateneing (or as kujo says 'pointing out') that they could claim the whole thing if i dont agree to the terms. Can anyone here tell me if they think its fair they claim 100% when they sold a song with a sample wrongly taken from somehwere else? Welcome to the music business everybody This whole thing started because the publishers fucked up and didn't pay kujo properly. Honestly fuck this industry man Parasites everywhere

I also have Lyme Disease (& some of the co-infections that usually come with it), so I appreciate Ren so much for his work! Ps: It's pronounced LYME, not LIMES (no "s"). And ticks are one of the many ways you can get Lyme - any biting insect can infect someone with it; spiders, mosquitoes, etc. Most of us (including me) never see our bite, so it's hard to have doctors take us seriously. Another myth is that antibiotics can cure it...there is still no cure, or do we think Ren would still be sick? Nope. I've personally had it 8 years & know many others battling it over 20 years. Our best hope right now is remission. Antibiotics are an important part of a treatment plan, but once it becomes chronic (which is most cases due to lack of awareness, legit testing, doctors not believing Lyme can become chronic, etc), antibiotics cannot cure Lyme Disease. If you or someone you know has symptoms like debilitating &/or chronic fatigue, vertigo, migraines, neck pain, joint or muscle pain, air hunger, severe insomnia, malaise, brain fog, or any of the 300+ other symptoms that are possible with Lyme Disease, please seek out LLMD's (Lyme Literate Doctors) first because very little western medicine/average doctors will even acknowledge it exists. To them, it's like a religion they don't believe in. It's an extreme injustice for patients to have to become their own advocates over & over & over. It's as serious as cancer & aids (sadly not exaggerating), but barely anyone knows about it & the things it can do. Thanks for letting me spread awareness! Thanks for this video! Xo

I only noticed all of this because I went to therapy for 3 years and had a great therapist. Love your analysis, got a new subscriber. My favorite line "is losing patience with the process", while doctors also lose patients with the process. Money game part 2 is probably more to your liking musically, but Chalk Outlines is an amazing song, with a more typical structure, but it's the most emotionally affecting of his music, that I know.

For your next ren reaction I’d highly recommend money game pt 2. Also this song is one of the two songs I’ve ever heard mention derealization. The other one is Bo Burnham’s That Funny Feeling

This song really resonated with me on a very personal level. I had problems with my heart beating too slow and passing out since I was in my early 20s and my cardiologist at the time just told me that it was just all in my head and nothing was wrong with me. Since the so called expert told me that everything was fine I just went along with it and learned to cope with it the fainting spells and hype my heart rate up all the time with energy drinks and caffeine all the time. Over time it just kept getting worse and worse and when I was 38 I went back to my general practitioner and begged him to send me to another cardiologist. A normal heart rate is between 60 - 100 beats per minute, mine was normally at between 50 - 40 and dropping down to 28 when I was resting. This cardiologist listened to me and ran the proper test and even though he admitted I was very young to have those kinds of heart issues he listened to. Within a week I was in for surgery and they found I had a double heart block and implanted a pacemaker. I will never forget the cardiologist telling after my surgery that at the rate I was progressing I would of been dead by the end of the year without the pacemaker. I still had a long recovery because my heart had been so weak for so long it was stressful on it to suddenly maintain a normal heart rate. It was a muscle that had grown weak over time and had to be built back up. All that because I believed that first doctor when she said it was all in my head, when I knew deep down that something was really wrong.

Great analysis of both the lyrics and production qualities as always. I can see you rapidly digesting the larger themes and structures and how that might influence your own work. You totally deserve hitting a mil on YT (and more)!

Knox check out the song What You Want by Ren. It shows more of a fun side to Ren no message in this one just pure fun. Ren’s got more sides to him than a octagon. He kills the very early to mid 90s hip hop rap. Plus my 4 year old lad is obsessed with this song if you react to it he might become a big fan of yours🤣

As a chronic neurological Lyme patient myself (undiagnosed and untreated for 15-18 years), I have not found anyone who comes close to Ren in describing the tragedy that is chronic illness. The endless suffering, medical ignorance, mental warfare -- it's like he's speaking about the last 10 years of my life while describing his own journey. You broke this song down impeccably, I very much appreciate your analysis and ability to pull out all these societal commentaries that his words are laced with. Thank you for this! 💚

I've recently read another viewers comment saying that Ren wanted to use the term 'like pigs to the slaughter'' in his lyrics (no idea in what context/reference) but the imagery stayed with him and he's used it in his videos. I guess that everyone will interpret the reason for the pig mask differently but it's always mentioned on his reactions.....so it's definitely got people talking about it!
