Thank you very much for this little lesson in counter melod. I'm really trying to learn how to arrange for acapella and this is a great start, though I'm coming from your video on the...uhm Yesus I'm forgetting the name of the concept in general. You talked about harmonic frequencies, fundamentals- the harmonic series. Yes. That was also very helpful because you had examples with voices so no I can actually hear the differences in my head. SO thank you very much and keep up the good work.

This REALLY helps with a piece that I am considering arranging. Thank you for the historic perspective and for breaking things down in "bite-size" elements. PS: Subscription statistics are nice but non-statistical data (eg. teaching impact, number of lives touched with quality musical foundations that you assisted in creating, etc) may never be measured and are just as meaningful (if not more!). is it normal to sometimes end up indirectly/"accidentally" changing the chord progression after writing the countermelody/countermelodies (that still sounds nice) ?

Yes, of course! This can be a nice surprise for the audience as well, especially if you've used another chord before and they don't expect the change. If you check out my video on descants, I talk about some classic Christmas arrangements where this happens to great effect, such as "O Come All Ye Faithful" arranged by David Willcocks :-)
