It's the first livestream back after the summer and we're taking a deep dive into the massive changes to Koala Sampler. Now you have 16 effects, 4 bus channels and a master channel to polish and add richness to your beats. Today we'll go through my full Koala Sampler beatmaking workflow: from flipping samples, using stem separation to isolate sounds and sequencing beats. Then we'll take a look at the new FX and go over some of my favorite Bus FX combos and whether you can master in Koala using the new fx and master channel.

Ive had it a week,been sampling since early 90s still got Zoom sample track st224 ,Akai yamaha and Ensoniq rack mount samplers..this Blows it all away..v simillar to the Zoom st 224 set up so at home too..Elf Audio do need to add a arm /trigger sample function for guitarists cos you cant hold sample button downd and play guitar.and the samurai mixer could do with at least 8 channels 16 be better..thats all id add and i would willinly pay for the upgrades..this has blown me away ,i combine it with Evolution Audio and fruity loops on android..am in Heaven.

So great to hear you're digging Koala, it is such an inspiring piece of gear, especially given how portable and usable it is. I know what you mean about the mixer, that and the new fx are incredible but could definitely do with more channels, or even per sample pad effects. Who knows what's to come in updates though, it has already changed so much (in amazing ways) from the original release

Very informative video about Koala. Also appreciate the cool techniques about creating bass and overall pitch tool use. I’m new to the app myself after my MacBook HD went out (RIP MPC Beats software). Keep up the dope vids!

Thanks for your comment. I’m not an affiliate or have any relation to Koala Sampler, I just make beats and tutorials with samplers and dawless gear. With regard to a synth in Koala, there is a slight workaround, you can use a one shot sample of a synth (or any instrument) and use the chromatic mode to turn it into a polyphonic synth within the app. If you route it to a bus with a filter and other fx it’s a decent synth all in app.

I would like to see a movie about midi mapping and loop start. There are some movies that control effectors with an external midi, but there aren't many that deal with sample editing.

@@sunwarper I live your tutorial, thanks.I would like to control the loop start of the koala sampler with the knob on an external midi controller, rather than by swiping the screen like on the SP404.

I see, so controlling aspects of Koala using external midi controllers. I don't typically connect koala to midi, but what you're describing with sample start and end time's is definitely doable! I'll look into it and make a video or short on it. I'm a bit slowed down at the moment dealing with a newborn, so might be a few weeks, but I'll definitely have one soon :)

Great video! Could you tell me how many milliseconds of latency are you getting on your pads?? I feel that my koala or any other samplers like iMPC Pro, or any synth, everything has always a little lag when i try to play it... very sutil but annoys me... like 20ms maybe.... i dont have any audio interface on my iPad... trying to finger drum listening on my iPd speakers

Cheers! I'm not sure the actual latency; however, I've never had issues with it and typically notice latency due to experiences recording guitar DI. What type and year iPad are you using? Honestly, I'm not sure how I'd test the latency but I'll try to look into it and cover it in an upcoming Dawless FAQ video I'm working on.
