Flamingos for the pond area by the Microhouse. Because the pond is shallow enough for flamingos to wade in (which they naturally prefer over swimming), and the environment is already spot on for the species. =)
@scrolls97415 жыл бұрын
This is just insane. Also I think flamingos would fit perfectly in that shallow water.
@stuchly15 жыл бұрын
Definitely. I'd put polar bears elsewhere if lady insists on having them, preferably somewhere inside. Flamingos would really add to that pond area.

My apologies for being a bit under the weather this episode, but you did such a stellar job Mike! The architecture is so clean, well-composed and creative. And I love how you 'pimped' the entrance as well, your eye for layouts and composition never disappoints :)

This video is a prime example of how well Mike understands modern, realistic zoos way better than most youtubers! Most of the planet zoo youtubers are making 'habitats' that are very aestheticly pleasing, but not really that realistic as we look at modern zoos. Fantastic work Mike!
@oscarbavi78865 жыл бұрын
totally agree
@samdaley84845 жыл бұрын
You could have a "cold house" for the polar bears that opens to an outdoor water feature. Put coolers in the outdoor area to simulate them pumping cold water in for the bears, and since it's water instead of land you can justify the outdoor coolers. So the bears might swim outdoors, and guests can come inside the cold house to view the bears in a cave habitat. The North Carolina zoo has some pretty cool ice cave theming for their polar bears you can look up :)

For the lake i think flamingos are perfect but nile monitors or crocodiles would fit as well
@maryv58155 жыл бұрын
Turning that shallow lake into a big flamingo habitat would be perfect! Especially if you can hide/blur the barriers in some way to make the area seem very natural and much larger than it really is. Almost as if you are just walking past a wild area, instead of a concrete enclosure. Essentially making an enclosure feel un-enclosed. Awesome jobs as always Silv and Mike. Can't wait to see Lady's ep!

I asked myself the question: can Mike rly keep pulling it off? and the answer: Heck yeah!!! when looking over that pond/lake I believed that it was deep in the middle... you did the exact same thing with your botanic garden : when you dive into it, is where the magic happens, and on this one you even took it outside as well... I feel like I'm repeating what others are saying, but honestly Mike, you make the magic happen! .... I'm looking so much forward to what this series will bring.... Enough of me babbling. Peace out!

Because I couldn't form a single coherent comment, here's a running commentary... 7:47 OH MY GOSH THAT'S ALL SO COOL!!! So beautiful and creative! 8:45 As much as I really want to see a polar bear habitat, flamingos probably fit this space better... 9:19 Wow that is a beautiful view 11:15 Such an amazing reveal! That was NOT the interior I expected -- it's so much more unique and beautiful! 11:30 I echo that sentiment: WOW. The modern planter work and that amazing roof...... Stunning. 11:50 I absolutely love how you integrated the exhibits... I feel like I am learning so much in this episode. 18:00 I had the same thought as RudI: Wow, you really went and did that.... And it looks great. 19:55 Wait there's more?? That's so cool! I love the circular benches! 21:50 The overall view is absolutely amazing. Everything fits together so beautifully. 24:00 If you want to put an animal somewhere near the micro-house, I'd vote flamingo, tapir, or pygmy hippo. 26:25 Poor DeLady... Arctic DLC doesn't really help much for Koali Zoo... Maybe the next DLC will work better? Already Koali Zoo is shaping up to be absolutely beautiful! I'm really looking forward to see how you guys build off each other's talents, and challenge each other...... This is going to be an amazing project. Wonderful job, Mike! And I'm excited to see what DeLady contributes for the next episode!

Typically view your videos late at night and don't really comment that often. The tree sculptures are just incredible. I first thought why? PZ has so many beautiful trees and other foliage but, I created something similar, using a medium tone wooden beam and this began a whole sculpture garden that surrounds an open food area. I used the antler, copper colored New World sculptures and played around with them in potted plants. Then created an entire tree with the antlers horns. All the sculptures and food area are surrounded with the man made trees in varying heights. The finished product is probably the most beautiful scenery I have made in my zoo to date. I took the mosaic wall idea and used it around my turtles. I made a turtle mosaic construction wall and am in awe of how it turned out. Love the inspiration.

So awesome. Love it, Mike. And Silv’s entrance is great too. They keep polar bears in the San Diego zoo. In the wild, their diet consists of about 90% fat. In captivity, you can feed them a low fat diet to keep them comfortable in a warm climate. San Diego zoo feeds them about 10% fat in their diet.

Mind blowing build. There are no words to accurately describe how good this build is. Mind blowing. Right, as much as I'd enjoy seeing Polar Bears they just wouldn't work this early into the build. You'd need to setup a proper full on Chilly zone. So I'd vote for Flamingos.

Phenomenal builds like these make me both really happy and at the same time disappointed in myself. Fantastic video guys! Regarding the polar bear, I cant speak for the game mechanics as I dont own it. But in the time I worked at St Louis zoo I would see our Polar Bear, Kali, just about every day. And he could be seen out in his exhibit pretty much regardless of the weather. It could be 90°f outside and Kali will take naps on a sunny rock for hours at a time. His exhibit setup provides numerous ways for him to cool himself off, from ice dispensers built into the "stone" walls of his exhibit, to chilled pools; the interior portion of his exhibit, not viewable by guests, was kept refrigerated essentially. Its open at all hours of the day to allow him to come and go as he pleases. Regardless of this, he quite enjoys the warm weather. Just some points to consider if arctic animals are a consideration for this zoo! :) If you're interested in seeing Kali's exhibit, you can likely find pictures on the St Louis zoo website, or google STL Zoo Polar Bear Point.
