I couldn't figure out why mine was not cutting. I watched your video and in seconds realized had the chain on wrong. Flipped it over and it cut like butter. Thank you for teaching me!

I love my Kobalt Pole Chainsaw - 80-volt - 5-AH battery - 10" Bar - 6 ft / 8ft foot Pole Chainsaw. No electric cord. I've been using Oregon Bars and Chains. I have been using it for more than 3 years now. It works great on my southeast Louisiana farm clearing property that a hurricane went through and trashed all the trees throughout the woods of our 18-acre farm. I carry it all over in our woods and the battery lasts a long time. Today I'll be cutting a 6-inch limb off of a tree out front. I am also using (2) Kobalt 80 volt 18" Bar Chainsaws and using (2) 5 AH Batteries. Cuts huge logs great. The chainsaw first one wound up in a puddle and stopped working but after a couple of weeks and it had dried out, it started working again. For oil, I like to use Ryobi Bar and chain oil. We have cut 20"+_ logs and works like a charm. And NO more pulling and pulling to start a gas-powered chainsaw.

Wow, you are a hard working farmer! Thanks for the good advice. Those storms can be a doozy. A big snow storm took out tons of branches on our property in Oregon one year. We were thankful for this pole saw to keep the branches from falling on our critters. God bless!

Sorry to hear. Hopefully Lowe's will do something to back up their product. When I lived in Oregon we had a really great Lowe's and they would do whatever it took to make the customer happy. When I moved to Kansas and I had a problem with a Lowe's product they basically told me tough luck. I guess it just depends if there's a good manager at your local store or not. Best of luck!

I just got one of these. The instructions say that when you first assemble the bar and chain, the chain should be just loose enough to be able to turn it by hand. However, I'm unable to turn it, no matter how loose I make it. Could the problem be that my sprocket wheel won't turn for some reason? I cannot manually turn the sprocket wheel, which I think is the reason I can't manually turn the chain. Does this make any sense?
@diyamerican2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve! It sure sounds like something is wrong with your chainsaw. Could it be that the safety is on and thus it won't turn? Try releasing the safety and if it still won't move then maybe check with Lowe's. If it's defective they probably swap it for a new one. hope you figure it out! God bless!

Wish had seen this video b4 wasting the last few hours. I also was confused that couldnt move chain either, trying to get tension right. Didnt think to take safety off. Also barefoot on deck while putting together and chain fell off, landing on my foot and cutting my toe.

the obvious things that I noticed: not wearing gloves, you gotta think about safety first. The chains can be sharp. Other than that, great demo. But I already knew how to put together my saw before I saw this video. I bought this saw at Lowes for $199 and didnt need the manual since I had the Dewalt 24 V smaller saw from Home Depot first. I returned that and got this Kobalt chainsaw instead. Man, it cuts trees like bread & butter. I love this saw.

I like your video and display but i caution users like me- take a little more time to make sure you are properly tensioned than me! I kinda disagree with his startup, there should be pretty solid tension in the chain for a cold bar. Like he says- not overly tight and dumb but there’s no reason for extra slack in an out of the box unit. Trust me it won’t keep the chain on. I pretty much followed the video and my chain flew off in first tiny branch! The manual sucks for not having a basic unboxing procedure so this video is excellent to that. But once you are ready to tension the chain, go to the manual! Also the manual has a better explanation of the direction of the chain install in that there are tiny arrows to point you in the direction of the cutting action.

I have 14" 40v with a easy adjust chain. It broke and kobalt says the 5 year warranty will not replace it. It was less than 1 year old. The part that broke was thin plastic. no parts are available. i now have 3 40 v batteries and no saw. Lowes will not help either. I bought a wild badger 40 v 16" from tractor supply that has the old fashion chain adjustment. I am done with Kobalt.
