Kobe's highlights from every game against the Utah Jazz in the opening round of the 2009 championship run. Really good all around series from Kob', featuring the classic game 4 in Utah where he sunk contested jumper after contested jumper all night to silence the hostile crowd after a putrid shooting performance in game 3. The Jazz had solid options to throw at Kobe, with Ronnie Brewer getting the primary assignment and 3x All-Defensive selection AK-47 trying his hand for chunks of each game. They were able to make Kobe work hard for his buckets but it didn't matter in the end as the Lakers were able to finish Utah off in a quick 5 games behind Kobe's series-leading 27.4 PPG. He also chipped in 5 boards, nearly 6 assists and over 2 steals per game, with shootings splits of 47/35/90.
Game 1 - 0:00
Game 2 - 7:26
Game 3 - 13:11
Game 4 - 18:35
Game 5 - 26:52

Thnx for the clear footage @kobefan124 , for some reason most kobe footage 08 07 06 are really terrible and grainy but u can still find jordan magic jhonson footage from way back that feel like 4k 1000fps.

It’s crazy how people called Kobe selfish! He got so much hate…he was an amazing facilitator!

kobe is literally one of the smartest passers to ever play the game, and is on the upper scale as far as flair and ability to put it on target as well. His court vision, even, was good... he just wasn't the most willing passer. When he needed to do that to win though, he did it. He just did it in an offense where it wasn't going to net you 10 assists. Even Rondo says that 2010 Game 7 Kobe outplayed him, and probably had a triple double if you add up all his passes that lead to the assist. Kobe broke the defense down, made the appropriate pass, that forced a rotation that then left another player open. He passed to move the ball and defense, not to rack up assist numbers!

In that moment of his career that’s true, but earlier, like 2004 to 2008 he was a selfish as hell

I can watch Kobe play every year if it were possible. He'd literally average 40 pp in today's NBA bc of the spacing. It would be ridiculous. RIP to my GOAT.

I think it could be if he would have been in his prime. And he would have tendency to shoot more threes than mid range and make sure he was behind three point line. Because in his game were so much 2 point shots. Where he could one step away and make a three. But I understand why he did those. Rhythm and sometimes you just don't have time to make one step so it easier to shoot uncontested long two. Than contested three

To me 99/00 is the season I consider the beginning of Kobe prime also his real rookie season as a starter.. If u remove Kobe first 3 years (he wasn’t starting didn’t get minutes) and last 3 years (due to all the injuries) and count the 14 between 99-13 I wonder what his career numbers would look like.. Those 6 years hurt his career numbers.. This man went to 7 finals in 10 years 99/00 ~ 09/10 winning 5.. The 3 years he didn’t go he was the leading scorer and flat out best player in world 03,06,07..Plus help lead Team USA to 2 Gold Medals in that time..Ppl don’t really realize how great of a prime The Great Kobe Bryant had.. The 14 years he played full time 99-13 he was a top 5 player every year during that stretch.. How quickly they forget..

I was in Colorado with some friends and we were watching the Lakers-Nuggets series. they were adamant melo was the best scorer in the nba and couldn't believe it when I told them, while really, really, good, Melo's skillset literally makes him a poor mans Kobe. The Lakers have no answer for Melo... but I'd way rather have no answer for Melo than no answer for Kobe. Kobe actually gonna destroy your team, even if he don't post big numbers. Your defense has to do everything it can to either keep him from getting his looks or make him miss those looks, with multiple defenders. Even if he's not having a great shooting night, no team or coach in their right mind would leave him open, no matter what the stat nerds might think. He's the best scorer in history -- the man with a million moves.

If I can force Melo to consistently need to make the proper pass, that's the game (at that point in his career, before his handle got ridiculous).

No he’s not even Kobe knows it. I’m a Kobe guy but we all know he mever surpassed MJ. He made ridiculous shots but wasn’t consistent and that’s why he’s got lower career and playoff FG% than MJ. I would say Lebron is not better than Kobe
