I will tell you that football is my life. Since I was 3 until my late 50’s when I almost died I was closely associated with football. Now I watch more football than I ever have. I grew up liking most team sports in America (no soccer and hockey) love the olympic sports. But the 80’s Celtics and Larry Bird became my team. And I consider him my all time hero. Thank you for showing us this reminder of the man he was outside the court. I thank KZbin for the platform that shows the new fans just how good he was. Remember, he also won coach of the year and GM of the year with the Pacers.

I think Larry has that really dry sense of humor, kind of associated with the Midwest. He’s serious, and then all of a sudden something really funny comes out of his mouth. I'd like to preface this by a quote by Pat Riley: "If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game I'd choose Michael Jordan.. If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life... I'd take Larry Bird." I love Michael and I think he is the GOAT. But, here is the problem. He's the pinnacle of basketball, but he is not the original. He took so many parts from so many other players and made them his own. And perfected them, and went ahead and became the GOAT. BUT, a large portion of what Michael is, is directly borrowed from Bird. Another part directly borrowed from Magic. Michael incorporated so many people into his game. And ask him, he's going to tell you who his heroes are. But who were Birds heroes? Who are the people that Bird wanted to walk the path of? Anyone heard of John Havlicek? I think Bird kinda walked his own path.
