Seriously, Larry Bird could make millions by being on a podcast for just a half hour a week where old school ballers meet with him and talk about games and trash talking. Get Magic and Bird on a podcast talking to guys they played with. That would absolutely wreck every other podcast ever.

Bird is indeed, the word. I was born in 1978 & my old man took me to a regular season Celtics game in 1986 vs the Pistons. ... Although I was too young to truly appreciate it all my dad's reasoning was that I HAD to see the greatness of that particular team. ... Am grateful for it & happy that I can always say that I witnessed the 86 Celtics live & in person 🙏 .... 😃

Not only older players but current ones have stories. Lance Stephenson currently from the Indiana Pacers told this one; while at practice , the players were stretching , Bird strolls onto the court in front of everyone, picks up a ball proceeds to make a bunch of 3-pointers in a row, at least ten (other reports of 15), while in his street clothes. Then sits down as if nothing happened. Bird was in his early 60s when he did this . Larry Legend keeping the legendary stories alive. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGnEm5-bftl4q8k

Both were well on their way to NBA greatness independent of each other. Bird may have been obsessed with a ring first, and beating Magic too because him, Kelser, and Vincent whupped Bird in NCAA final. Bird exercised those demons in 1980-81 and 1983-84, nothing he could do about the tourney final that crushed the undefeated Bird and four guys from theY Spartans. When the Celtics won in 84 that was the point where Magic started wondering, " Is Bird in a gym somewhere right about now?"

As these players speak about Bird, they always preface their story with, “well, he wasn’t fast and mostly couldn’t jump, but man could he ball.” He seemed to always be in the right place and then have the skills to pull off what he wanted. Oh yeah, he could shoot a three from extreme distance, but he also could dribble into impossible traffic, spin and no-look to the open man. Then if they expected him to pass, he would take it to the hoop fast. The smartest player I ever saw.

Bird was just under 6'10"...He was definitely a BIG man, even for that sport, and yet his game was that of a smaller, supposedly faster player during his era. His skills were just off the charts...Chamberlain, in his day, was also just scary, so agile for a man of his size. @Roderick Campbell Thanks for your insight. I agree with Jack being included. I was trying to point out that Arnie, through early TV coverage, made the game wildly popular. Then I mentioned Tiger who is regarded as a reason purses became much larger. Just by Jack's record in the majors, I still think he's #1 all time. Regarding KC Jones. I played golf at a semi-private course, of which KC was a member. He had a condo overlooking a hole on the front nine. I got to meet him and shake his hand. There is simply no other NBA player in history that has the respect of so many other great NBA players. The stories are endless each game he played is full of them. Who fellows ladies who has ever impacted the game as the Birdman? Anybody? 63 year old old man Texan here who watch the Birdman every chance he got

Great vid. But Nuggs have always been my team. AE was my fav Nuggs player but Magic was my non-Nuggs fav player (xcept when playing Nuggs). Never had cable so antennae TV in Denver in 80's never covered east coast teams. Had no clue who Bird was until late 80's.

The only thing good about the NBA today is talking about how great it was back in the day!!

The 1980s were just better full stop, better basketball, better music, better books, better serial killers..

It was such a competitive & exciting NBA play then we have today. After Black Mamba retired, I just couldn't bear to watch it anymore. RIP Kobe Bryant 🙏
