Penny was better than Kobe.... I love Kobe but.... I witnessed both and I would choose a healthy Penny over Kobe and D. Wade

Penny was definitely a better passer, but I don’t think he had the scoring ability Kobe did. That’s not to say he was a bad scorer, he wasn’t, he was a good scorer. I honestly don’t know if I would ever put Dwade number 3. I think peak for peak, Tracy was better even AI.

im gonna assume we got PENNY somewhere on our personal rushmore-or-less. Or tried to convince ya'self uActually liked HoneyCombs so could put "Penny on Your Wall". There's 2 huge magnifiers revisiting these highlights that may have contribute to such a short, though epic, NBA career. First, he never really put on much muscle mass or enough weight that could buffered some threshold of the injuries. 2nd, how many nba players or olympians were drafted with bullet fragments in their ankles? But, most of all, what kinda separated Penny reaping the same acclaim as the Kobes & DWades is same argument that Paul Pierce had addressing his lone championship vs their multiples. IJS...its almost insult to Penny's pure essence as a POINT GOD...giving him Marbury's, McDysess's & gugliotta's and say "Take us there!" uGotta be Jason Kidding me! if there's anyone to blame, iBlame his agent.@@theroundonepodcast

Mr. Penny Hardaway is a true basketball player with higher iq and eq🙂 playing fundamentals than many of the players he played with. In his game, he performed a completely basic basketball game, like an art form of basketball art in 3D space with every move. When i play basketball i play fundamental basketball like his spin moves and assist my teammate with great pleasure. In my opinion, NBA players today are missing the beauty and magic of the game. They play only to score , not to master the entire game. Big thanks to Mr. Penny Hardaway, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird, Vince Carter, Tracy Macgrady,..and all the great players for their inspiration.🙏❤️🏀🌍🚴🤸🏃🙂.

Just to help you out. Penny didn't start to get hurt until after Shaq left for LA. His first 3 seasons with Shaq in Orlando before Shaq bolted Penny was fine. Actually Shaq was hurt for the first few months of their 3rd year together and Penny led Orlando. Orlando finished 60-22 the year the Bulls went 72-10. Also the first loss Chicago got that season was from Orlando who was led by Penny dropping 38 on the Bulls (38 on Chicago 72 win team was a big deal) and Shaq was not even playing he was hurt. That's where the drama started within the team of who is the leader with the media saying it was Penny's team and others saying it was Shaq's team. Penny's 4th season Shaq was in LA and he was still top level and an all star but by 5th year is when the injuries mounted and Orlando didn't allow him to heal properly which was no surprise. Post injury Penny on Phoenix he still had a solid year of 17/5/5 and great dunk on Robinson. His high IQ of the game is what helped him manage a long career that sadly was never as amazing as his first 4 seasons. I'm a KNicks fan back then but I loved watching Shaq and Penny. I felt they were a better duo than Kobe and Shaq by far. Penny's high IQ and passing ability to get Shaq the ball complemented his game more than Kobe I always felt. The bigger issue for Orlando was they needed a better coach and maybe 1-2 more role players off the bench. Shaq, Penny, Grant, Nick Anderson and D. Scott was a good starting 5. It would only have gotten better. I always felt if Shaq stayed in Orlando that the Bulls would have never gotten a second 3 peat because I feel by 1998 Shaq, Penny and a stronger bench would have got them. That's just my opinion though. If Orlando was still together 1999-2004 era would have been all Orlando. The Spurs would have been a threat but it would have taken time. That's about it. You take the 3 peat in LA and just replace that with Orlando and then they could have dominated well into 2005. Even Hakeem said after sweeping them that they would be a force for a decade. Sadly changed.

They were definitely a great team that ended prematurely. And penny was a pass first kind of player, they definitely complemented each other more, just weren’t as successful. Penny and Shaq would have lasted longer if both healthy too. Kobe wanted to be the guy and to prove to people how good he was, which he did. So they were kind of destined to only last for a little while. But I agree that magic team would have stopped the bulls and been a mini dynasty in their own right. I also think aside from coaching they needed a deeper bench. They played a slightly unconventional style of basketball for the time, I think if that team was playing today’s game they would win a chip every year.

I’m not taking away from one player to give to the other. There are a lot of players with what ifs. What if Tracy didn’t get hurt, Jordan doesn’t retire, what if Kobe started from his rookie year and didn’t tear his Achilles, what if Yao Ming played longer, what if Greg oden never got hurt, grant hill, Derrick rose, Brandon Roy, Len bias. Unfortunately none of these things are the reality.

4:52 penny was 6'7.. he did not start to get hurt until after shaq left. Like his 5 or 6th season. This is my favorite of all time. This is also tmac's favorite too. So tmac is like him, respectfully. That center you asked about is Ron Seikaly. The context is win and go to the finals. This was game 5 or 6 of that finals. Their only appearance together. B4 nick Andersons meltdown at the free throw line in the finals.
