Personally I think kobelco are the second best manufacturers of excavators in the world. The smaller, lesser known company KATO make the finest excavators there is.

Definitely Caterpillar and Komatsu are the best in performance and product, spare parts support. Mining in Australia mostly use this two brands and the rest are minority.

I' ve seen 5 or 6 years ago a Kobelco excavator with long reach boom working in Thailand.Very impressive. These machines are rare sight in Greece, probably they are very expensive.
