Kobo Libra Colour | My First Impressions

Yeah.. it's like 3 weeks later than I anticipated.. BUT HERE'S MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS!
I also realized after filming that somehow some weird filter was applied to all my footage? But hey.. I'm taking messy action & not all my videos will be perfect (this is my self pep-talk lol..)
Are you getting the kobo colour? are you a strict Kindle girlie? I'd love to know!!

Strange that your Kobo is slow-ish like that. I just tested mine and it's instant. Even flipping to different orientations to read, it's also fast. Even to load a book it's also fast. I have almost 200 books on mine too. Maybe there's an issue with your Kobo perhaps? Or maybe I just got lucky for now x) Kobo is great though, I prefer it over Kindle.

I think it might just be on the files I converted & transferred from my kindle -- reading a library book via overdrive now & there is no issues.. lol will be looking into it further!

That’s interesting about the speed. On mine it’s pretty fast. I notice it especially with the orientation because I switch hands often. I wonder if there wasn’t a consistent QA done on all the devices.

could be! I also haven't checked if there are any updates for it.. perhaps that's also a factor!

i am also kobo, but i might get the more cheaper kindle. great thoughts, but maybe it'll be fixed (the lag) once they get more updates.

I love that I have the option to read on either! and I think the lag might be happening because the book I was showing was converted from kindle format! Will do some more testing 🧐🧐

Are you doing the tandem read with kingdom of ash and empire of storms? If so I found someone on tiktok who made both of the books into one ebook so you can read them how they should be read without having to use two devices. I haven't tried it yet but it looks good. When you move books over to the kobo I found out that you need to format them into Kepub books so you can still annotation on them and get all of the stats for the book like you would if you bought the book from Kobos shop.

I did the tandem read before I got the kobo actually! and I just went back & forth between the files on my kindle and it worked totally fine :) I'm definitely going to try your tip of formatting them to kepub books though.. I think that might be what's causing that weird lag I mentioned in the video.. because I'm currently reading a library book through overdrive and have very little lag.

@@limitlesskate yes I have found out that there is little lag when the books are in the kepub format. Any other format seems to lag it pretty bad for me. Hope this helps you!

Great review! Would you say the resolution is the same as the kindle? I tried a different color ereader (Bigme 751c) and it was super grainy and resolution was terrible compared to my kindle oasis.

thanks for watching!! I'd say it's maybe SLIGHTLY lower resolution than my signature paperwhite (likely because of the colour capabilities,) but nowhere near enough where it annoys me too much. - not sure in comparison to the oasis though!

What you are seeing could be the difference between the BW screen and color screen. The color displays have a color filter over the black and white layer which results in less contrast with black and white text and what many call a "screen door" effect which could be the graininess you are seeing
