Two restaurants close as changes are on the horizon in Nob Hill

Get a clue. ART lanes congest Central Avenue, poor parking, crime and homelessness are all negatively impacting Nob Hill.

ART moves 3 times the ridership that rapid ride did, and half of Central was one lane in each direction anyway. Despite the massive poverty and homelessness nearby Nob Hill is gentrifying. Post pandemic some places have completely different businesses and rents are rising.

It's been operating for 5 years, those businesses survived that and the pandemic. Other powers may be at play here.

It definetly is starting to sounds like a shift to higher end places that are more expensive. Which means higher rents that traditional mom and pop shops can't afford even if they have the demand in their restaurants.

ART ruined everything. Mayor Richard Berry was a complete fool for that project. I live in the south valley and central is the closest “exciting thing” that we have. I’m not driving all the way up to Montgomery while the I 25 nightmare project is going on just to get a slice of pizza or hang out at O’Neill’s. My friend and I ate at Nob Hill slice parlor about three weeks ago on a Saturday night and it was completely empty. My mom and I go to Olo every Sunday night and we have to struggle to find parking. This is the problem: parking, ART buses, homeless, & expensive prices. Higher Ups don’t care what’s going on, all we know is that it’s only going downhill from here.

Oniels closing is pretty sad. Their nob hill location was beautiful. Their food is pretty good too if I recall. Slice parlor was mediocre and I'm surprised it stayed open this long.

Last president (republican) net lost 2.9 million jobs and our last governor and mayor (republican) who we had for 8 years made us one of the last places to recover from the recession in the entire country. This isn't rocket science. Crime and homelessness are keeping people away from this area. What happened to downtown a few years ago is now happening to Nob Hill. This is the elephant in the living room many in this city are not willing to talk about. I hope and pray that a new mayor can turn this city around.

Nob Hill had been very pretty before Powers-that-be decided to rip up the street (Central), supposedly for bus traffice. And we all know that the buses don't serve the people who want to go to the restaurants or shops all along Central.

I came here on vacation two years and it was so nice we decided to stay, but you’re probably right about the people, I’ve never seen so many bitter and unhappy people

day time activity is fairly normal, however the night time risks and lower profits are difficult to justify keeping many businesses open ... this is a complex situation with no easy solutions. public transportation seems to help theives and drug users move around the city as well as honest workers from my short time stay and observation of the area.
