I usually stick to autowheel for wheels but I do love kochs reactive rust remover for getting surface rust off motorcycle chains, nuts and bolts, and pretty much any surface rust. Great to have different strengths of iron remover available. If I were forced to stick to 2 brands it would for sure be koch and bilt hamber, great range of products. @SparkleanAutos Жыл бұрын
Better??? Can't answer that as haven't compared the 2 side by side, certainly every bit as good and the fact that this doesn't dry in at all definitely gives it some points over BH. The cost doesn't bother me as I only use these 2 or 3 times a year - so spending an extra couple of pounds isn't a massive deal if the product is more enjoyable to use. The trigger system is miles ahead of BH too. GT iron oxide is another fantastic product - in fact this is similar in terms of user experience but with the visible reaction of Auto Wheels... So I suppose you could say it's the best of both worlds! Thanks for taking the time to comment Patrick, always appreciated 👍🏼

Cheers Nick. I never used to be a fan but since I started using BH Auto Wheels a few years ago I started to see how effective they can be at both cleaning AND decontaminating the wheels at the same time, rather than washing and THEN using fallout - I've also never been a massive fan of using FR on wheels without removing them from the car first whereas these are (supposedly 🤷🏻♂️) formulated to do it with the wheel in situ! I only do this every few months on my own so I don't mind having a dedicated product for it - I just need to put this and BH head to head to see which comes out on top!

I tried this stuff as well and it is legit. Only thing that comes even close to touchless brake dust removal on my 6 piston Brembo setup. The problem is the price for only 500 mL. I used a LOT of product for 4 wheels with their sprayer.
@SparkleanAutos Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris. Agreed, it's not a cheap product, even the 5L version is around £90 at the minute... But then again it's not a weekly maintenance product so I guess it just depends on your own budget and how often you want/need to use it.
@chrisbradley3224 Жыл бұрын
@@SparkleanAutos Unfortunately my brakes are dusty enough that in theory I could use it every week, lol. I might try the 5L and a pump sprayer on a monthly basis. I feel like their spray head isn’t well matched to the viscosity of the product and could fan out better. I normally use soap and agitate and it does work it’s just a lot of agitation. Tried P&S Brake Buster and it was very weak for me on the brake dust. Not much better than plain soap. Despite my complaints it’s still the best option I think. I wonder if it’s actually more gentle than the alkaline wheel cleaners when it comes to ceramic coatings. Most of them play nice with iron remover and mild acids.

Great demo, Mark. Really informative to watch. I can't help feeling though my approach would have been, on such dirty wheels, to do an apc wash first. That insane reaction was caused by so much dirt still on the wheels after the first rince. A way cheaper apc wash with a brush and mitt would have cleared the surface crud, ready for stubborn iron removal with expensive MWC. That's my way. Nevertheless, still enjoyed watching you put the product through a tough test.
@SparkleanAutos11 ай бұрын
That would normally be my way too Adrian, but the purpose of this series is to test the products as per the instructions and that's exactly what I did. As effective a product as this is, it certainly isn't cost effective to use as a maintenance product, but it's definitely up there with BH Auto Wheels to be used as part of a full decontamination process 👍🏼

That looks like a winner in my view as a twice a year deep clean chemical. How much did you use and cost of purchase would have been useful? I recently thought I would look into changing my wheel cleaning chemicals from GT then Autobrite to something new and plumped for the 3 Turtle Wax products but found I used half the bottle of Hybrid Solutions wheel cleaner but that was on four 22" Jaguar wheels. I was very impressed with the result and the blackness of the graphene infused tyre treatment also looks like a winner. My next product to try was going too be Yum but this Koh-Chemie looks like it may relegate Yum down a place. I do like a chrome wheel from the guy with 3 cars one with black wheels the other two have diamond cut with black inserts the other has grey. I do use a range of chemicals for maintenance washes, Auto Finesse, M & K and Angelwax which all give good results or they would have been binned a while ago. Another really good watch so thanks again for your content.
@SparkleanAutos Жыл бұрын
Thank you John, really appreciate that. You've named some really good products there and a lot of the time it just comes down to personal taste/preference - even down to branding itself for some users. As for this one, unfortunately on the day I didn't measure it out but I would estimate about 150ml... It seems like a lot spraying it on initially but then there's no need to spray anymore as it literally doesn't dry in! So cost per wash would be far from cheap - you could use less (I may have overdone it!) But you'd still be talking around £3-5 per wash... Having said that, this is for a deep clean a couple of times a year and for those instances, as a hobbyist, I just want the products to work and don't really mind too much spending an extra couple of pounds - that would be very different for weekly maintenance products!!! Thanks again John for the continued support 👍🏼

@@SparkleanAutos Thanks again for the informative and detailed reply. Is it bad if the spray reaches on the brake disc??
@SparkleanAutos29 күн бұрын
Not really, especially if you rinse it off thoroughly and only use it as intended, as in once every 2-3 months to decontaminate the wheels... The reaction you see is the product with the oxidation around the particles that have come off the pads, not actually with the iron/steel itself... So whilst I wouldn't recommend using it every week and leaving it on the discs to dry, using it now & again AND properly rinsing it won't lead to any issues within the normal lifetime of a brake disc 👍🏼👍🏼

@@SparkleanAutos thank you ! should i also get myself the RRR ? also can i use it on the body car also for iron remov? or you suggest something else . btw i heard that these products dont work well in direct sun / hot country where i live.. is it a problem?
@SparkleanAutosАй бұрын
@am_9944 I'll be perfectly honest, I haven't tried RRR yet so I can't really advise you either way on it. What I will say is that MWC is marketed as a reactive wheel cleaner - as in it's formulated specifically for use on wheels for removing brake dust as well as iron fallout particles... Whereas RRR is specifically formulated for removing fallout particles on all exterior surfaces. Now I'm not a chemist so I wouldn't being to presume what those differences actually are, or if it is simply a marketing difference of a very similar product... A lot of brands do this - Bilt Hamber have Auto Wheels and Korossol - and from my experience, the wheel-specific product does tend to have more of a foaming action when agitated, so perhaps they do contain more foaming agents/surfactants etc. Sadly though, I can't really give you a definitive answer 👍🏼
@SparkleanAutosАй бұрын
@am_9944 as for using in hot/dry climates... It is a factor but I'd say work in the shade and don't allow to dry in for too long - if these products do dry in you can reactivate them with snow foam.. but obviously don't leave them on for hours lol

Thank you Roy... No, being a decontamination product, it's best to use it as it is. These products are specifically formulated and watering them down can seriously affect performance to the point where you aren't actually making them more economical at all, quite the opposite. Products like this and Bilt Hamber's Auto Wheels aren't the cheapest but they only need to be used 2 or 3 times a year so, from my point of view, the cost per usage isn't a huge issue.
