This is the best overview of E100 I’ve seen. The examples of over-under exposure were perfect. Thanks man!

Sorry but bracketing by 1 stop with slide film is blowing my mind. I wil never bracketing by 1/3 stop around the correct exposure for any slide film, especially with Ektachrome E100. With Velvia minus 1/3. stop. He has to read carefully the Ektachrome E100 datasheet. My tests confirmed their recommendations.

Thanks for this informative video, I now know what to expect from this film. No "What's Up Guys!", camera porn, cheesy music, and unexperienced millennial hipster photographers pretending to be experts. Thank you!

Thanks for this. I'm three rolls into Ektachrome 100 but haven't had a chance to get them developed yet. I was nervous I was screwing it up, but this is reassuring as I've been mostly metering as per your video.

I use a late production film camera from the 90's with a really accurate light meter because I know that every photo that I take is spot on the money accurate and crisp. I love E100 its a great film.

Many days and no response from any emails to answer some simple questions. I've read from reviews that the company has been going down in service and quality recently. I knew it was a red flag when they said they DO NO list a phone number to talk to clients. The only time I've seen a business do that is when they are going rotten and have to many complaints. Can you imagine if I actually mailed my film in and had a problem? They won't even respond to people wanting to give them business. So glad I did not send them my many films, they lost some hefty business from me.

E100 is my favourite colour film

Your photos look great. Compared to a lot of photos I see taken with this film, they don't look like they have a strong blue cast. I haven't shot a roll yet, but I don't know why a lot of sample photos I see look so blue.
@moegthrasir Жыл бұрын
Generally speaking shooting in open shade tends to yield that blue cast. Also shooting at higher altitudes. I've also ended up with a number of such photos, much more pronounced with E100 than with Provia. But since I've been using a warming filter (the straw-colored 81B by Hoya or the salmon-pink colored KR3 from Heliopan/B+W) the blue cast is pretty much gone altogether. These warm up the scene by 300-400 K depending on the filter. In fact, these days I just leave the KR3 on my lens whenever I have slide film in my camera.

Ektachrome as ell as all other slide film is not forgiving. It hhas even little less lattitude than velvia and provis. This means you need to get the exposure on the money, max 1/3 stop. Why don't you use a spotmeter, a more precise way to determinr your exposure. You meter for the highlight, and check where the shadows will fall..and sdjust if necessary. Sometimes you just cannot take the shot, just move on, and come back when better light, unless you fon't care much about the shadows, this is question of preference..thrte is no wrong exposure as long you get the results you intended before hitting the shutter..Said that, great video, a lot to learn there. Thanks to Kodak to Kodak that's trying to support the film shooters communities, umlike Fuji whi just betrayed us. We all should stop bying Fuji stock and turn to Kodak, to support their development effort, and keep the film alive and may see the prices drop. Very soon Fuji will gone, cutting their production slowly but surely. Love Ektachrome E100..but necessitate more work indeed..in fact that 's the joy of film photography..only hard work pays..isn't it?

I just don't understand bracketing by 1 stop for slide film!!! First you need to be sure your light meter is calibrated. I am talking about Spotmeter in this case. Then you need to calibrate it for the film you are using..means testing, to determine the ISO that gives you a middle tone of the subject you consider middle tone in the field. This ISO might differ from your box speed, sometimes up to 1 1/2 stop. Now you should be all set..you know that your film has latitude of 41/2 stop for example, measure the dynamic range (or SBC subject brighness range) of the scene. You check if that scene SBC can be handled by yiur film. If not then you have a decision to make, either move on and don't take the shoot, take it later in different light condition, or take the shot but yiu have to sacrifice something, the drtails in the shadows or the details in the highlight..that only you can make that decision..yiur reference tone in the field is not necessary a middle tone as I said before, it can be any other tone very common in the field as long as you know exactly how much stops it differ from what you consider middle tone. As fir bracketing, I very rarely bracket, but when I do, it is no more than 1/3 stop in each side, often I take a shot at my normal exposure, and a second one under-exposed by 1/3 stop for slide film . I must admit that It happened that I bracket by a max of 1/2 stop but once in moon time..Film is also very expensive nowadays, so better limit bracketing, have a reliable light meter, know your film and its characteristics, and limitations, and be precise in your exposures taking in account how you want the scene or subject to be rendered. It is a learing process that never ends..
